However, while he has dazzled in Star Wars and shone brightly within the MCU, he has also been part of some amazing stand-alone movies as well.

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes - 90% (2014)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The fact that the 10th film on this list scores an incredible 90% proves just how strong his top 10 movies are, with Andy Serkis took on the lead role of Caesar in all three of these movies, and he brought incredible performances to each one.

It saw motion capture technology be taken to the next level as Andy Serkis worked as the chimp and did a terrific job at it. He managed to capture the perfect balance between being animalistic and having human touches to make the character emotional, which is why this film worked so well.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring - 91% (2001)

Gollum looks on happily from Lord of the Rings

Speaking of motion capture, it was Andy Serkis' role as Gollum in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy that really brought this technology to the forefront of modern cinema. But while the technology was incredible, it really was down to Serkis' performances that the character became so iconic.

Gollum doesn't have quite as big of a role in this one as he does in the following movies, with this character growing in importance throughout the trilogy. But this movie is fantastic, setting the stage for what is to come, doing a terrific job at building the characters.

Death Of A Superhero - 91% (2012)

ANDY SERKIS - Death of a Superhero

While Andy Serkis doesn't take on the lead role of Donald in this movie, he is a very important character as Dr. King. Donald is someone who goes to see him as he is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness which completely turns his life upside down.

It's an incredibly emotional movie as Donald battles with the situation that he has to fight the illness to save his life, and Andy Serkis' character helps him do exactly that. He plays the role perfectly in this role, which is quite different to his usual roles which tend to be very over the top.

Arthur Christmas - 92% (2011)

Arthur Christmas Arthur Cheering

Andy Serkis has played quite a lot of darker and scarier characters throughout his career, which is something he does really well. But when it comes to Arthur Christmas, Serkis got to show his jollier side. In this movie, he was the Lead Elf, who was full of positivity and hope.

This is one of the best Christmas movies ever made, utilising both modern and classic approaches when it comes to the festive period. It's a film full of joy and happiness, which is exactly what a festive film should do.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King - 93% (2003)

Gollum performed by Andy Serkis in The Hobbit

The final movie in The Lord of the Rings trilogy saw Gollum really have a huge role in proceedings as the one ring really did drive him into madness. Andy Serkis committed 100% to the performance as the character really goes crazy towards the end.

Of course, overall the movie itself is incredibly gripping and is absolutely jam-packed with action. While it is incredibly lengthy, there are great pay-offs for every character and it wraps up an incredible trilogy in the best manner possible.

The War For The Planet Of The Apes - 94% (2017)

Back to Andy Serkis' other major role, which is as Caesar with the highest-rated of the three Apes movies. The War For The Planet Of The Apes is the final instalment in Andy Serkis' series and it wraps things up in a fantastic manner with a really great film.

Not only is it full of brilliant action, but once again it is all about the story and emotion that comes through the film which really helps it to connect. Andy Serkis brings yet another breathtaking performance to help ensure this movie connects.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers - 95% (2002)

Fans of the movies will happily debate which of the trilogy is the strongest all day and night, but when it comes to Rotten Tomatoes it is The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers which takes the top spot. It's a film that has a perfect blend of action and story-building and doesn't drag on quite as long as the final movie.

Once again, Andy Serkis is a real scene-stealer in this one, with this being the film where Gollum really begins to build a strong bond and trust with Frodo. The scenes with Gollum are really enjoyable in this one, with Andy Serkis really getting to delve into the split personality of the character.

Black Panther - 97% (2017)

Ulysses Klaw laughing while being interviewed

Andy Serkis' role in Black Panther is vastly underrated with his performance as Ulysses Klaue being a great one. He acts as a bit of a red herring in the film in reality, as he starts out as the clear main villain, but that ends up changing as he dies earlier on in the film.

However, he plays the part very well and the film only gets stronger the longer it goes on. It's one of the MCU's strongest movies with high amounts of action, an amazing soundtrack, and a vibrant world with this movie blowing all expectations out of the water.

Wild Bill - 100% (2011)

Wild Bill Cropped

Wild Bill has an amazing British ensemble cast with Andy Serkis just being one of many talented actors involved in this film. The British crime drama focuses on the character of Bill who returns is fresh out of prison, only to find that his sons have been left abandoned.

It's a story that focuses on him growing as a father and learning to accept responsibilities as one of his sons ends up falling down the same path that he did, forcing Bill to step up and take action.

Longford - 100% (2007)

Lord Longford sits in the pews in a church in Longford

That's right, Andy Serkis doesn't just have one 100% rated movie, he has two. Longford is another film that has been given a perfect score by Rotten Tomatoes and deservedly so. This film sees Serkis play the role of Ian Brady, who is an infamous murderer who carried out brutal crimes against five children.

The film doesn't focus too heavily on the crime itself but instead looks into the relationship between Lord Longford, who is played brilliantly by Jim Broadbent, and Myra Hindley. Myra was the accomplice of Ian Brady, and they worked together in killing the children. It's a very sensitive film, but it is done tastefully and everyone plays their parts well to help bring this horrible story to light.
