An cycling through the seasons within Animal Crossing as the months go by. Released in 2020, the game has sold over 32 million copies and become one of the most popular Nintendo games of all time.

Animal Crossing places players on a deserted island and allows them to build it however they'd like. For Northern Hemisphere players, snow begins to blanket the ground in mid-December in Animal Crossing and brings new materials and creatures along with it. Players can collect Snowflakes that fall in the air all throughout the season, utilizing the flakes in new frosty DIY recipes like a Frozen Pillar and Frozen Sculpture that can be used to decorate their islands. However, both the DIY recipes and Large Snowflakes required to complete them can only be obtained from a perfect Snowboy. Creating a perfect Snowboy in Animal Crossing is a difficult task that requires players to roll up two balls of snow in an exact size ratio, with one slightly smaller than the other. Winter also means dung beetles will appear on players' islands, which can be found rolling snowballs around independently.

Twitter JelenaHaeschke received an assist in building a perfect Snowboy from two dung beetles this week, sharing a video that shows the bugs hard at work. The two beetles are working side by side rolling their own balls of snow, with one slightly larger than the other. The stands to the side, almost hidden in the Wheat Field items they've placed. After a short period of observation, the player approaches the smaller snowball and with just a tap creates a perfect Snowboy with the beetle-created snowballs.

While a single dung beetle spawning and rolling a snowball in Animal Crossing is a fairly common occurrence during the winter months, the game spawning two of them side by side is an undoubtedly rare occurrence. The spawn rate of dung beetles in the game is relatively low, on the same level as valuable bugs like the emperor butterfly. On top of that, creating a perfect Snowboy - a difficult task that most players take many attempts to master - was immediately achieved by two beetles. Of course, some of this event has to do with luck - the player arrived at just the right time to stop the beetles from continuing to enlarge their snowballs.

This amazing small moment is a perfect example of what players love about the game. Throughout all its iterations, the Animal Crossing series has always delighted fans with little details and surprises that aren't explicitly told to the player. Gamers are left to discover these things themselves, which has kept fans coming back to the game for years. Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for almost two years, the game remains incredibly popular, largely in part to special moments like this.
