Animal Crossing isn't known for hiding major Easter eggs and rare finds within its cozy, idyllic world but one player managed to stun the entire community by showing off one of the most elusive moments in the entire series. Back when the Animal Crossing franchise was still in its infancy, players weren't all that familiar with its formula given that, at the time, there wasn't much to compare against it. Having said that, even fans back in 2001 knew how lucky one had to be to witness a rainbow in the original game.
Posted to Reddit by cailincailinl, the player showed off a screenshot of an actual rainbow over the waterfall in Animal Crossing for the Game Cube.
While it may not seem like a special event, the rainbow is incredibly difficult to see; cailincailinl noted that they've been playing the game for over two decades but this was their first time seeing it in person. Commenter Next_Firefighter7605 followed this up by itting that they believed the rainbow to be "a myth" in the original Animal Crossing, further evidencing the rainbow's rareness.
Rainbows Are The Ultimate Prize
Only For The Most Dedicated Players
Rainbows are incredibly unlikely to happen in any Animal Crossing game, with many players sinking hundreds of weather patterns with third-party apps but this is unverified.
Rainbows are the most coveted occurrence in Animal Crossing but they're not the only thing valuable to completionists and collectors looking to display their amazing finds. These include craftable outfits like the Golden Armor Set, the Royal Crown, and the Royal Throne, all of which can take hours of grinding to eventually unlock.

3 Things That Must Be Included in the Next Animal Crossing Game
A new Animal Crossing game is inevitable when the Nintendo Switch 2 comes out, and these features must be included.
Animal Crossing isn't a game series that's known for its loot-grind progression but players do go out of their way to collect interesting items to decorate their house. While it may not be possible to capture a rainbow with a precise swing of the net, one can't help by feel lucky after such an encounter. Even if it does take hundreds of hours.
