As a reminder to Animal Crossing: New Horizons players old and new, Isabelle has just announced that the fireworks shows will be back for August. Traditionally, every Sunday in August has featured a fireworks display at night, beginning at 7pm and continuing until midnight. This is the third summer that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been around, and the fireworks have been a fun feature of the game since the beginning.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is known for its seasonal events, including everyone's least favorite Animal Crossing character, Zipper T. Bunny. In addition to this egg-fest of a holiday, Animal Crossing also has events for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Festivale, and more, though it calls its winter celebration Toy Day to make it non-denominational.
According to the official Animal Crossing Twitter , run by the peppy and civic-minded Isabelle, the fireworks show will be accompanied by other returning activities, like Redd's Raffle. Redd runs a prize counter, where players can buy a random prize, like small fireworks, balloons, bubble wands, fans, and treats. Additionally, Isabelle gives out one free hat per island, so if players visit each other's fireworks celebrations they can get multiple colors.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Fireworks Shows Are The Same As Last Year
While the fireworks show is not the most involved holiday in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it does allow players to customize the fireworks on display. To do this, players need to speak with Isabelle, and choose fireworks based on custom pattern designs. The fireworks cycle between ten designs, and will repeat. Players can create custom fireworks displays for friends this way, making the event more memorable. Some s were happy to hear about the return of a relaxing Animal Crossing event, especially in one of the hottest months of the year for players in the northern hemisphere.
However, not all s were happy with this announcement. In November 2021, it was announced that there would be no more major updates to the game, sparking a petition from Animal Crossing players for more updates. The Animal Crossing 2.0 update was rolled out and touted as the last one the game will receive, bringing with it the Happy Home Paradise DLC. Since then, some players have been upset with the lack of long-term attention given to the game. New Horizons has essentially been put into stasis after nearly two years of from Nintendo. The regular in-game events, such as August's fireworks shows, come and go without any changes from previous years. Those who have been longterm fans of the series may have expected this, since the older titles weren't always updated post-release, but many who began with Animal Crossing: New Horizons may feel as though the game has grown stale without updates.
