Not content to have the visiting gull character hang out on their beach, one Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan decided to "kidnap" Gulliver and take him on a land-locked tour of their island. The seafaring Gulliver seems to spend more time washing up on players' shores than actually aboard his ship, showing up sporadically throughout the weeks.

Every time he visits an island, he stays close to the water, waiting patiently for players to help him out by collecting all the communicator parts he needs to get back into other open seas again. But one player, who goes by DamnNearKilledIt on Reddit, decided that the time had come to bring Gulliver out of his comfort zone and into the island proper. The player describes how they "kidnapped Gulliver and made him tour my island," accompanied by a video that shows the gull apparently having the time of his life visiting different parts of the island.

Adorable Video Shows Him Visiting Various Island Landmarks

The player its that they struggled a bit to get the visitor into the main island, since the character is programmed to stay on the sandy beaches. They say they had "a hard time wrangling him onto the little edge where the beach meets the sand." Once the character made it onto the non-beach part of the island, though, the player was surprised that he "just very slowly walks back towards where he showed up that day," as opposed to beelining it to the nearest shore.

Based on the video and the player's description, they did have to "help" Gulliver along a bit by digging a few strategically placed holes to block his path back to the beach where he had washed up. The player is then shown nudging Gulliver to different spots on their island. The two can be seen dancing by a lighthouse on a rock, standing in front of the Town Hall, and looking understandably distressed next to a stall with a shark and a sign that ominously reads "RIP Gulliver."

Gulliver Is A Franchise Favorite In Animal Crossing

The Poor Gull Character Is Always Getting Shipwrecked On Players' Islands

Animal Crossing New Horizons player with gulliver and gullivar

Gulliver might have been an unwilling participant in this player's island tour, but he's certainly no stranger to letting the currents of life take him wherever they wish. The character first sailed into the Animal Crossing franchise in the first game in the series and has been crash-landing in players' homes ever since.

The intrepid explorer is a sailor in the first game, New Leaf, and New Horizons, and an astronaut in Wild World and City Folk, but in both cases, he seems to be incredibly unlucky. The seagull is so seemingly accident-prone, in fact, that a popular fan theory suggests that he and his alter-ego Gullivarr simply sail around the island drinking the "GOOD soda" and taking turns falling out and rescuing each other.

Helping Gulliver sends him back on his voyage across the seas or skies, and rewards players with unique furniture items from around the world. At least this time, Gulliver got to see something other than the sandy beaches of this player's Animal Crossing: New Horizons island.
