Nook Miles are the latest and greatest form of currency introduced in Animal Crossing New Horizons. These miles can be obtained by completed all sorts of achievement-like tasks such as fishing a certain number of fish, selling a bunch of weeds, or collecting seashells. Much like bells, Nook Miles can be used to purchase exclusive items such as clothing, furniture, and travel tickets.

However, Nook Miles can also be used to purchase some serious upgrades that make the player's life a little bit easier. Players can purchase new hairstyles, a keyring for your tools, but most importantly Nook Miles can be used to expand the player's inventory. This upgrade isn't cheap so a few challenges will have to be completed to unlock it, but it is an item a player should try to prioritize obtaining.

How to Expand Storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons

After using 5,000 Nook Miles to pay off the first loan of the player's house, Tom Nook will inform you that you have become a Nook Miles + member. This means that players can now complete even simpler tasks to collect Nook Miles faster, and players now have the ability to spend Nook Miles on items by using the Nook Stop. The Nook Stop is located inside the Resident Services Tent or Building if you're fancy.

The Nook Stop looks like an ATM and it is also the place where players will pay off their loans from now on. Access the Nook Stop and select the first item which is "Redeem Nook Miles." Once selected a list of items available for the player to purchase will appear, and if the player has not spent any Nook Miles yet this list can be rather long.

The item players are looking for is the "Pocket Organization Guide" which costs 5,000 Nook Miles. This may seem like a lot (it was the cost of your first house) but it is well worth it. Upon buying the guide players will have unlocked an additional full row of inventory space making the total number of slot 30.

An additional upgrade can be purchased the same way once the resident services tent is upgraded to a resident services building. Purchasing a second inventory upgrade will allow the player to carry 40 item slots worth of items. The residence service building will upgrade after Nook's Cranny has been built and three villagers move into the town.

Player storage should be a priority as it affects what players can do for the rest of the game, or affects how quickly tasks can be done. As players will want to keep their tools on them at all times, additional inventory space will allow them to do so without hindering their ability to fill their inventory with fruit, shells, and fish. More storage = more bells.
