Animal Crossing New Horizons grants players an extremely high level of customizability. From facial features to hairstyles to uprooting your entire town, players can customize almost anything. This even includes the player's clothing.
Much like past Animal Crossing titles, players can use pixel artwork to make custom clothing designs. While other games required the player to talk to the Able sisters to make new clothes, New Horizons allows players to make new clothes from their Nook Phone. And players also have the ability to unlock advanced tools to further customize their attire.
Customizing Clothes in Animal Crossing New Horizons
For players to be able to customize their clothing they will first need to obtain the Nook Phone from Tom Nook. This happens at the very beginning of the game and is part of the story so it is impossible to miss. Once the player has the Nook Phone open the phone's menu and select the "Custom Designs" option. This will allow players to create basic designs that they can wear as either a sleeveless t-shirt or face paint.
Players are granted access to basic tools and colors to design their clothes with at first, and can only design one side of the clothing. This may suffice for some people, while others may want to take their customizations a bit further.
Advanced Customization in Animal Crossing New Horizons
In order to unlock the advanced customization options for clothing, they will need to purchase an item from the Nook Stop. The Nook Stop is the ATM inside the residence services tent that players can use to purchase special items with Nook Miles. Players will need to purchase the "Custom Design Pro Editor" from the "Redeem Nook Miles" option at the Nook Stop. It costs 800 Nook Miles and will immediately unlock the ability to design better custom clothing in Animal Crossing.
The Custom Design Pro Editor allows players the option to choose from a variety of different clothing types to make designs for. These include t-shirts, dresses, hoodies, hats, and more. Once a player selects the type of clothing they want to make a design for they will have access to different s that represent what part of the piece of clothing you are deg (front, back, left sleeve, right sleeve).
These designs can be saved and shared with friends via QR codes. Players can also find designs online that they can via QR codes and wear in the game. These designs do not take up inventory space but instead, take up design slots. Designs can be altered and changed later, and players can edit designs that they .
