One of the biggest reasons for playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the ability to collect bells. Nothing is more relieving than selling all the extra items from a player's pockets and receiving those sweet bells to buy more items. These come in handy when deg players' homes, excavating the layout of the island, or even buying a cute outfit from the Able sisters. But getting bells can prove to be a little bit of a grind. That's where money trees come in.

Although there is a new currency called Nook Miles, bells are still essential to the game. Bells are used to purchase basic needs things, whereas Nook Miles are for games and exclusive in-game items. Additionally, players are given something that most people dream of: a chance to literally grow money on trees.

Nothing is more of a blessing than leaving the house and seeing bags of cash just hanging for players to pick. The best part is that growing money trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a fairly simple process. Although there is only a short-term payout for money trees, that short-term can help players reach exactly however much they need to make that last important island modification.

How to Spot a Money Tree in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Planting money trees is simple. The first thing players need to do is scope out the island. In order to plant a money tree, players will need to locate a glowing spot on the ground. These spots are generally easy to find and stand out against the green of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' landscape. Once the spot is located, pull out the shovel and dig up that glowing spot. Players will find about 1000 bells from this spot.

In order to maximize profit, players should bury up 10,000 bells - burying any more than 10,000 bells is a loss of profit (which will be explained a little later). It's worth noting Animal Crossing players can wait before digging up the golden spot. The spot will be there all day, so players are encouraged to continue collecting and selling items until they have 10000 bells to bury. Once the gold hole is open, players should open their menu and select their money option. This will give players a chance to pull 10000 bells into their inventory. Once the bells are in ACNH players' pockets, select the bells and bury them in the golden spot.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Money Trees

Money trees take a significant amount more time to grown than normal trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players will be able to watch the tree grow very slowly, often taking up to six days before bearing fruit. Once the tree is full-grown, players will see three bags of money hanging from the tree. The money will return the player 3x the amount the player buried but caps out at 30000 bells in total. This is the reason burying more than 10000 bells is a waste.

The best part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is that, unlike the previous Animal Crossing games, the golden shovel is not necessary to grow a money tree. Players can use any shovel to start growing these trees. Money trees are a fast way for players to triple their bell income. Players can find money trees either every day or every other day on their island, and there is no limit to how many can be grown at one time. Any time a player runs across a money tree spot, they should grow one.

to treat each money tree as if a player would any other plant. The money tree should be watered and given enough space from other trees and plants to grow and flourish, and checked in on daily. Additionally, money trees can be moved around an Animal Crossing island. Once a player plants the money tree and the sprout is present, they can then dig the money tree back up and relocate it to a better spot. This gives Animal Crossing players the liberty to further organize and create their islands as they see fit.
