coziness and comfort, but certain mechanics have left players feeling frustrated. Tasks like printing Nook Miles tickets, obtaining Bell Vouchers, and crafting multiple items can quickly become tedious. Add to that the endless button-mashing, which can leave even the strongest thumbs sore for hours, and you might be looking for the next plane off the island. Despite the game being released in 2020, players are still venting about these lingering issues.

On the Animal Crossing: New Horizons subreddit, dograpestastegood shared a photo of their in-game inventory filled with Bell vouchers, captioning it, "This took 2.5 hours of smashing the A button..." They added, "My thumb hurts, but my ABD has been fed." While the post seems like a lighthearted take on the tedious process of button-mashing to obtain vouchers, many comments reveal that this frustration is a serious issue shared by a lot of players. One that many think could have easily been remedied earlier in the game’s life.

What’s The Deal With How Long It Takes To Craft Or Order Vouchers & Tickets?

Supposedly Time Flies On A Deserted Island Getaway

So why do tasks like redeeming vouchers and crafting take so long in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? After all, the game is designed to be a relaxing escape where players live on a peaceful island and make friends. It seems counter-productive for that tranquility to be interrupted by long crafting times and wait times for vouchers. However, for a game centered around relaxation, it makes sense that the mechanics work at a leisurely pace. If you're living in a tropical paradise with no worries, why would you care how long it takes to make a new chair or when your voucher will arrive?

Nintendo seems to be advertising Animal Crossing: New Horizons more in recent months, and fans are wondering if it means a new title reveal is coming.

While the slower pace can be justified within the context of the game, the button-mashing is another story. To redeem a Bell Voucher, players must visit the Resident Services building, approach the ABD, and navigate through a lengthy series of dialogues using the A button. There are multiple prompts, options, and confirmations to get through before you finally receive the voucher. Then, it's off to Nook’s Cranny, where more dialogue and button pressing await.

The ABD, or Automatic Bell Dispenser, is a machine that lets players withdraw and deposit Bells into their bank .

And that's just for voucher redemption. Obtaining Nook Miles tickets and crafting items like bait or multiple objects can also be time-consuming, requiring several button-presses and long wait times.

A Simple Fix Could Have Saved This Particular Issue In ACNH

It’s Not Too Late To Listen To The Players

Animal Crossing New Horizons Relaxing Setting

While the initial Reddit post is filled with comments from players who share the same thumb-aching frustration with the voucher mechanic, others are offering simple solutions. One idea that’s gained traction in the thread comes from Good_Fennel_1461, who suggests, there should just be a convert miles to bells option in the terminal.” It's hard to argue against this, as it seems like a feature that should already be in the game. Other comments propose a "bulk buy" option for both vouchers and crafting materials – another great suggestion that would have been welcome much earlier and saved a lot of thumbs.

While it is not likely that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will receive such patches or fixes, let’s hope the next Animal Crossing game takes these suggestions to heart.
