Players attached to their old Pocket Camp saves don't need to worry about losing their progress, as Nintendo has taken action to ensure smooth transfers between the two games. Levels, bells, friendship levels, items, saved outfits, and layouts will all be preserved, so many players will be able to carry on as normal after transferring the data. The major differences players will experience will be to do with the new content now available in the game.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete players will have more things to do with their animals, and be able to choose an animal friend to walk around their camp with. The new app also caters to decorators and designers, allowing players to save many different layouts for their camps and accessorize their planners with stickers. Seasonal events will still take place and be held on a four-year cycle, but players will be able to include more animals they were not able to meet in the previous game. Nintendo teased possible dates for new events and fortune cookies in its recent trailer.

Since the new app is bought with a one-time payment, and will not include the monthly subscription that Pocket Camp had, many of the features originally included in Pocket Camp Club will be moved to the base game. This includes the Merry Memories, Happy Helper, and Furniture & Fashion plans, which were all previously available for players to subscribe to separately. The Furniture & Fashion plan has not been available for players since January 2021, meaning that now all players will get a chance at accessing that content.
The Merry Memories plan was surrounded around customizing the planner - this becomes obsolete in the new release due to there being more customization features added. The Furniture & Fashion plan gave players access to easier access to rarer clothing and furniture. The Happy Helper plan allowed players to choose one of their villagers to appoint as a Camp Caretaker, meaning they would help the player with quests and be shown on their Member Card, which was a feature exclusive to Pocket Camp Club - in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, this feature receives a major rework.

Players from the original Pocket Camp game will likely the Member Cards feature, which displayed a player's character, name, ID, days played, and their Camp Caretaker, if they had one. This is another feature that has become obsolete with Nintendo's plans for the upgraded game, and will be replaced with Camper Cards. These cards show player information, and include a QR code so that players can scan them to find their friends in the app - this will add them to their Camper Card List. Players can also choose a favorite Animal Crossing villager to them on their card.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's approach to a farewell is fantastic, and it's proof that New Horizons didn't get the treatment it deserved.
Players will be able to see their friends whose Camper Card they've ed in a brand-new location called Whistle . This will include several ways for players to interact with friends, like the ability to receive gifts from them and request them to help with Shovelstrike Quarry. At 7pm each day, K.K. Slider will perform a song in Whistle for players and their friends to watch. Judging from Nintendo's sneak peaks at the new material, it appears that there will be many different songs that he will be able to choose from.
Players will be able to transfer their save data from the old game to Pocket Camp Complete, which will transfer their friends over to their Camper Cards collection. There are a few conditions for doing this, though. Players must have a fully updated version of Pocket Camp, (Version 6.0), and have their save data linked to their Nintendo . However, friends who have not been active for thirty days after upgrading to the latest version of the game will not be able to be transferred and will have to be added using the new Camper Cards system.

Due to changes being made to certain areas of the game, there are several items and features removed that won't be present in Pocket Camp: Complete. Leaf Tickets will not be transferred to the new game, and are instead being replaced by Leaf Tokens. Leaf tokens will be able to be earned through Bell exchange and goal rewards, and will be used to purchase items and shorten the time it takes to craft an item.
