The sale for Complete has ended, meaning the initial $9.99 players paid has risen to a whopping $19.99 before tax. AC was free for quite some time, and after the announcement that it would become a paid mobile app, fans got their hands on it early for a bargain, which is a lucky thing. When the app launched, it launched at a sale price, and as of February, that sale has concluded, making Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete its current price from today forward.

A recent Reddit thread that was posted by nicx-xx before the sale ended garnered a lot of attention, as fans of the cozy franchise are divided on whether it is truly worth the $19.99 Nintendo is asking for. The original post warned fans to get the title prior to the price increase, which turned into a discussion on the "worth" of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp overall.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete Has Gone From $10 to $20

The Launch Sale Is Over

The Reddit thread started as a simple warning to those who wanted to get Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp before the price went up to retail, but ended up being a discussion on the worth of the price tag. s, such as tweeetiee, also give a word of warning to players, as they state, "I would recommend looking at some gameplay first before buying. i regretted buying it, even at a reduced price." While AC has a lot to offer to those who enjoy the slow-going, cozy franchise, players were a bit put off by the "gacha" qualities that were introduced.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete has a new type of ticket and some players may not realize the best way to use them so they're not wasted.

Players claim they already struggled to justify the $9.99 price tag, let alone $19.99, as commenter CaliBubbles says, "I got it a few weeks ago. I haven’t had a chance to play it often but, when I do, it’s a lot of fun! Definitely worth paying $10 right now but i don’t know if I would buy it for $20." Some seem to thoroughly enjoy the nature of the game and all that comes with it, even the banners and FOMO-type sales that were brought with the new currencies, but this new price could deter new players from wanting to in on the fun.

Our Take: Is This New Retail Price Justified?

When the title was free-to-play, I played for quite a while and enjoyed it a lot. It did have a few quirks and things that made it a bit less fun and a lot of waiting around for the next day to complete tasks. Once the price went to $9.99, I considered purchasing it but ended up not having the time to play as much as I would like to for that price. I do think that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is very fun for what it is, but I do not think $19.99 with a ton of optional in-app purchases is entirely fair.

I, like most fans of the franchise, do find the games fun and relaxing, but this higher barrier to entry could end up working against Nintendo, and stop people from wanting to play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete if they had not purchased it during the sale.
