Annabelle Comes Home is the latest addition to The Conjuring Universe, but does it feature a post-credits scene? The Conjuring hit theaters in 2013 and earned strong reviews, in addition to $319 million at the box office on a $20 million budget. Warner Bros. and New Line wasted little time on getting a franchise going after that, and released the first spinoff-prequel, Annabelle, a year later. The studios have since unveiled another prequel, Annabelle: Creation, that explores the eponymous doll's origins, in addition to a sequel and a spinoff based around the demonic nun Valak (from The Conjuring 2).
The third Annabelle movie picks up shortly after the prologue to the first Conjuring - that is, right after paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) have their first encounter with the Annabelle doll and take her home to store in their house's cursed artifacts room, for safe-keeping. But of course, when the Warrens are away one night, Annabelle finds a way to escape her prison and awakens the evil spirits lying dormant in their museum. As such, it falls to the Warrens' daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace), her babysitter (Madison Iseman), and the latter's friend (Katie Sarife) to set things right.
For those who are wondering, Annabelle Comes Home does NOT include an after-credits scene. Its closing credits do, however, start off with some stylized renderings of shots from the movie that are worth remaining seated for. It's always polite to sit through a film's entire credits, of course, but those who do so here shouldn't expect any last-minute surprises or sequel teases beyond that.
To be fair, most of The Conjuring films so far haven't included any additional scenes or stingers during their credits, either. The lone exception is Annabelle: Creation (which included a mid-credits clip, along with a post-credits tease for The Nun) and, to a degree, this year's spinoff The Curse of La Llorona (which featured the sound of La Llorona crying near the very end of its credits). That said: between The Nun 2 reportedly moving forward, The Conjuring fans can rest assured that they haven't seen the last of this supernatural horror franchise - Annabelle Comes Home's lack of a stinger aside.
On a related note: it will be interesting to see who works on The Conjuring Universe in the future. Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, and The Nun writer Gary Dauberman made his directing debut on Annabelle Comes Home, but doesn't appear to be actively working on any other Conjuring entries for the time being. He and The Conjuring 1 & 2 director James Wan have served as the franchise's architects so far, but they've already begun to step back a little and allow other storytellers to play around in this sandbox that they've built. Hopefully, the franchise will end up feeling all the fresher and more energetic down the road for it.
