Even Annihilus is one of the most feared villains in the universe, a genocidal warlord bent on galactic domination. He even came close to achieving his goals during the Annihilation event, wiping out entire planets. However, despite all this, he has never appeared in a live-action film. Yet in 2006’s Annihilation #4, the Mad Titan enters Annihilius’ mind, and finds more than he bargains for, making a solid case for the insectoid villain as the MCU's next villain.
Annihilus has a rich history in the Marvel Universe, starting with his debut in 1968’s Fantastic Four Annual #6. The ruler of the extradimensional Negative Zone, Annihilus has been a Thanos took a peek into Annihilus' mind, and even he was shocked by what he found.
In the issue, from Keith Giffen and Andrea Di Vito, Thanos has asked ultra-psychic Moondragon to let him into Annihilus’ mind. Before she does, Moondragon tells Thanos that Annihilus’ thought patterns are chaotic, more akin to a “buzzing,” and attempts to make sense out of it are futile. Moondragon believes Thanos has underestimated Annihilus, but the Mad Titan insists on going into the creature’s mind. While Thanos is able to gain the information he needs from the process, occupying Annihilus’ mind is too much for even him, and he screams “enough” at Moondragon, forcing her to yank him out of Annihilus’ mind.

Annihilus is one of the only other beings besides Thanos who has come close to becoming a Universal Constant, existing outside the rules of life and death, and it was only Thanos and Adam Warlock's combined efforts that stopped his ascension coming to . The ruler of a hive-mind the size of a galaxy, Annihilus is a true cosmic being, and his mind is so strange and powerful that even Thanos - who has commanded the full power of reality - struggles to interact with it for more than a moment. Annihilus is significantly different from Thanos not just in intent but in his nature as an inhuman creature. Thanos is from another planet, but he has human concerns, where Annihilus has thoughts and motivations that mammals literally can't understand.
While Thanos is a horrifying zealot pursuing interests beyond what most mortals could dream of, Annihilus is an ultra-powerful insect gnawing at the very fabric of the universe. It's not often the Mad Titan comes up against an enemy he can't understand, but when it came to the ruler of the Negative Zone, he found himself overpowered. MCU fans who loved Thanos should keep hoping that Annihilus makes his movie debut, showcasing the powerful alien mind that even he couldn't stand for long.
