As the hero moves forward from the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania main conflict is insulting to MCU's Infinity Saga. Since playing an important role in the defeat of Thanos, Lang's life has significantly changed as he gains public acclaim for his heroic deeds. While he enjoys the public's adoration, Lang's personal life also thrives; he continues his romance with Hope van Dyne while also deepening his bond with his daughter, Cassie Lang. However, the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer reveals Lang's deepest regret, which is understandable but totally insensitive to the Infinity Saga's horrors.
Marvel Studios released the Easter egg-filled Ant-Man 3 trailer, which reveals additional information about what to expect from the Peyton Reed-directed threequel. That includes more footage of Team Ant-Man in the Quantum Realm, where they end up facing off against Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror. It seems, however, that it will be Lang who will primarily be dealing with the Multiverse Saga's big bad, as the villain taps into the hero's personal conflict and offers to resolve it if he agrees to help him with his nefarious plan.
Scott’s Ant-Man 3 Desire Is Deeply Selfish (Especially Post-Infinity Saga)
Despite being an all-powerful being, Kang is stuck in the Quantum Realm and needs Lang's thieving ways to get out and execute his schemes. In order to manipulate the Avenger into cooperating, the Conqueror taps into the hero's deepest desire — to get back the five years he lost after Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War. While it's understandable for him to feel this way, especially seeing Cassie all grown up, objectively, his situation is so much better than what others have had to endure. Throughout the fight against Thanos, countless lives have been lost, including some of his fellow Avengers.
On the heels of the Infinity Saga, Lang gets more time to spend with his daughter. While the MCU shouldn't invalidate his feelings over the tragedy, making it the emotional hook of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania makes him seem insensitive and self-centered, especially since he knows all the other losses around him. Iron Man and Black Widow had to sacrifice their lives to defeat Thanos and offer him and the rest of the universe the opportunity to reunite with their loved ones. Wanda was so grief-stricken with Vision's death that she terrorized a whole town in Wandavision.
What Will Happen With Ant-Man & Kang's Deal In Quantumania?
Story specifics for Ant-Man 3 are still kept under wraps, but its trailer confirms that, ultimately, Kang and Scott will reach a deal. Whether the hero has a bigger plan than just heeding the Conqueror's whim is unknown. It's difficult to imagine that Ant-Man will be simply manipulated, so it's likely that there's more to it than revealed. The new footage also spoils that their agreement will eventually go awry, however, with Ant-Man desperately and angrily reminding the villain that they had a pact. This presumably results in the brawl between the pair, which appears to turn into a bloody slugfest in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
