Frozen for Disney, and it would easily make up for the box office bomb she starred in this year. Disney has been slowly working its way through its entire catalogue, turning all of its animated classics into modern live-action blockbusters. It started out with Cinderella and The Jungle Book, then the billion-dollar success of their remakes of Aladdin and The Lion King encouraged the studio to go all-in on these live-action redos.
When asked about her dream roles, Taylor-Joy said she wants to star in a musical and suggested she’d love to play Elsa in a live-action Frozen. Although Dune: Part Two and The Super Mario Bros. Movie were massive hits, a lot of Taylor-Joy’s recent movies have disappointed at the box office. Amsterdam, The Northman, The New Mutants, and Last Night in Soho have all been flops. To top it off, Taylor-Joy starred in one of the biggest box office bombs of 2024, but a live-action Frozen would make up for it.

A Live-Action Frozen Movie's Biggest Challenge Shows Why It Can't Happen Anytime Soon
Walt Disney Studios has released numerous live-action versions of some of their most popular animated films, and a Frozen one is inevitable.
Disney's Live-Action Frozen Would Give Anya Taylor-Joy A Massive Hit After Furiosa
A live-action remake of Frozen would be a guaranteed blockbuster
This summer, Taylor-Joy starred in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, George Miller’s Mad Max spin-off telling the origin story of Charlize Theron’s iconic character from Mad Max: Fury Road. The movie was widely praised for its stunning visuals, engaging storytelling, and mythic themes, and Taylor-Joy proved she can be an awesome action hero. But the movie wasn’t a box office success, grossing just $172,436,244 on a budget of $168 million (via made Furiosa one of the biggest bombs of 2024.
If Taylor-Joy did star in a live-action remake of Frozen, it would be a guaranteed box office success. Frozen is one of Disney’s most popular properties – as evidenced by the fact that the Mouse House is working on not one, but two Frozen sequels simultaneously – and a live-action version would surely be a blockbuster hit. Right now, Taylor-Joy needs a guaranteed blockbuster to make up for the disappointment of Furiosa, and a live-action Frozen would do just that.
Anya Taylor-Joy's Live-Action Frozen Dream May Never Become A Reality
Taylor-Joy might be too old by the time a live-action Frozen gets made
It’s unlikely that Taylor-Joy’s dream of playing a live-action Elsa in a Frozen remake will ever come true. She could be a good choice for the role, but it’s also not a movie that’s in active development and casting major parts right now. Disney is remaking Moana, which came out even more recently than Frozen, so a live-action Frozen isn’t out of the question. But Anya Taylor-Joy would likely be in her 30s when it comes time to make that movie, and they’ll probably be looking for someone younger.
