An the often out of stock graphics card have found that it does not necessarily play well in Apex Legends despite its power, leading to lower performance and constant crashes.
The response comes amid the game’s ongoing Season 7 update, which brought a new map, new hero, the game’s first vehicle, and several other changes. Among these changes was the very controversial Season 7 Battle , which players quickly found out had significantly lower progression speed than previous battle es. The community backlash was so immense that developer Respawn Entertainment ended up backtracking and reducing the XP required to complete each level of the battle .
In a reply posted to Reddit and reported by Game Rant, Apex Legends developer rspn_pav acknowledged the RTX crashing issue and mentioned that the team has been made aware of the problem. The reply was posted to two threads describing the issue, with one player reporting that they were unable to play the game for more than two minutes before it crashed. The developer adds that those experiencing the issue can help the team out by providing launcher data and the error code displayed prior to the crash.
However, as some s have pointed out, an error code is not always displayed before the game crashes, instead just closing outright. Other s have pointed out that the crashes may be related to driver updates and not entirely the fault of Apex Legends, similar to the RTX 3080 crashes back in September. Reddit Ragnarok64 noted that the game’s performance was improved after uninstalling Nvidia Broadcast, providing further evidence that the issue may be with Nvidia instead.
Whatever side it may be on, this is definitely an issue that needs patching. The RTX 3080 may be running into stock shortages currently, but as more people get their hands on the card, more people are going to be running into such crashes, so fixing it before that happens should be a priority. One can only imagine how a new RTX 3080 owner feels after spending that much on a graphics card only to run into such issues. Despite the global COVID-19 pandemic and Respawn Entertainment’s refusal to crunch though, updates have been progressing at a steady rate, so if the issue is actually with Apex Legends, it is likely to be patched up soon.
