Alongside its Apple Watch devices, Apple this week also launched its all-new MagSafe wallet with built-in for the company's popular tracking and anti-theft feature, "Find My." The technology, which was first announced alongside iOS 13 in 2019, enables s to track the location of iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and related accessories through a connected iCloud .

Find My merges the functions of the now-defunct apps 'Find My Friends' and 'Find My iPhone' (known on macOS devices as 'Find My Mac'). Alongside smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, Find My is also available on AirPods, AirTags, and a number of other ed third-party accessories as part of Apple's new Find My network accessory program that the company launched earlier this year. The program allows accessory makers to create Bluetooth or Wi-Fi devices that can be tracked in the Find My app alongside other Apple products.

The new MagSafe wallet was launched alongside the new iPhone 13 lineup that brings many new features which Apple afficionados are understandably excited about. While the iPhone 13 series will be available to purchase later this month, the wallet is currently listed on the Apple website for $59 and is available in five colors, including Sequoia Green, Golden Brown, Dark Cherry, Midnight, and Wisteria. While its design is not radically different from the first-generation MagSafe wallets, its killer new feature is the Find My that the company says will notify the of their wallet's last known location if it gets separated from the phone.

However, unlike the more high-tech gadgets, it will not provide real-time tracking, which means it might be difficult to track it down if it was moved after being detached from the phone. The wallets are made with European leather and come with strong built-in magnets that allow them to snap into place on the back of the iPhone. According to Apple, the wallet s up to three cards and is shielded to ensure the safety of the chips and magnetic strips on those cards.

MagSafe has been incorporated into a host of accessories since its announcement last year, including tripods and car mounts, as well as Apple’s own MagSafe battery pack. It was announced alongside the iPhone 12 lineup and is also a part of the iPhone 13 series. The technology enables wireless charging at up to 15 watts and is backward compatible with the open 'Qi' wireless charging standard.

The addition of Find My to the MagSafe wallet is likely to make them even more popular among iPhone s. It may also tempt at least some existing s of MagSafe wallets to the latest version, which might mean some additional sales for Apple. However, how many existing s will spend the extra $59 for just the Find My feature remains to be seen.
