The short phone call comes in.

True to form, Apple is constantly searching for ways to make using their products simple and that's evident whether discussing Walkie-Talkie or the Zoom feature. The common thread is the experience. However, the Walkie-Talkie feature is a quick, repeatable way to talk with loved ones that doesn't depend on much movement at all, making it a good solution for those with mobility issues, or as a way to search for friends in a crowd.

Turning on the notification will arrive instead, asking if the owner would like to talk. Adding friends to start isn't much more difficult. Simply open the app, tap on 'App Friends' and select a in the phone to send an invitation. Friend cards remain gray, and stay in a list of 'Friends You Invited' until they accept the invitation and at which point, the card turns yellow. To remove a friend, swipe left on them and press the delete button that appears. To accept invitations from others, press 'Always Allow' when the app sends a friend request notification. If the notification isn't seen, it can be found in the 'Notification Center'.

Using Apple Watch's Walkie-Talkie

With the Walkie-Talkie set up and a friend to chat with, opening the app and tapping on that will display a talk button. Just press and hold and say something to try it out. The screen may display a message that says 'connecting' and it may take some time. Once that connection goes through then instant communication is now available at the push of a button, provided they continue wearing the watch with the app turned on. If not, they'll receive the same alerts asking is they'd like to speak. It's necessary to have FaceTime installed and turned on to use Walkie-Talkie, but afterward this app works even with only a cellular connection available.

Like any feature, there are limitations. Some regions and countries won't be able to use Walkie-Talkie, and both the sender and receiver must be equipped with Apple Watch Series 1 and watchOS 5.3, at a minimum. The iPhone on which FaceTime is installed needs to be running at least iOS 12.4 and be capable of sending and receiving audio calls using FaceTime. The Walkie-Talkie also relies on the being signed in with their Apple ID and their E-mail address selected in the 'You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At' field. For most people, as long as the iPhone and Apple Watch are configured this way, Walkie-Talkie should perform just fine.
