Warning! Spoilers ahead for Aquaman #4!Step aside, Jason Momoa, because the DC Universe's turn in Aquaman's favor.
In Aquaman #4 by Jeremy Adams and John Timms, Arthur has been taken captive by Dagon's forces and is being held on a ship. Thankfully, Aquaman uses his new powers to escape and during the break, he runs into Arion and Vivienne, the latter of whom has a gift for Arthur.
She presents Aquaman with Thalassa, the Trilance Saber. Arthur uses the sword to shatter the evil force's ship and fights his old ally, Lori Lemaris. Mid-battle, Aquaman notices the saber responding to his movements, converting back and forth from an impressively long sword to an incredibly useful trident.
Aquaman's Epic New Trilance Saber is Two Weapons in One
By Far The Coolest Weapon Arthur Has Ever Used in Canon
In the wake of Absolute Power, Aquaman has gone through some big changes. For starters, he was one of the heroes caught up in the big power swap and accidentally got Mera's hydrokinesis and had to teach himself how to properly use her power. But not too long afterward, Aquaman's kingdom of Atlantis completely disappeared, along with Arthur's family, with no clue as to where they went other than a mysterious pearl. Aquaman ventured into an unknown realm to find his family and kingdom, only to discover the mysterious elemental source, the Blue, and the dangers that lurked within it.
What's really fascinating about Aquaman's new saber is how fluidly it transforms between its sword and trident forms. In fact, writer Jeremy Adams posted a video on X that showed off a prop he constructed to showcase how the Trilance Saber operates (and the work he put into his prop is honestly impressive). Aquaman's obviously no stranger to weapons like swords or tridents, but he's never had one that could be used as both in the same fight. A weapon like that is going to come in handy as Aquaman continues his quest to find his family and Atlantis.
Aquaman's Newest Weapon is a Major Asset in His Mission
The King's Trilance Saber Perfectly Compliments Aquaman's Fighting Style
Aquaman says it himself as he’s fighting. The Trilance Saber responds to his movements almost innately and fluidly switches between its two forms. Something like that is going to be a major help for Aquaman as he continues to fight increasingly powerful threats in the Blue. He hasn’t even met Dagon yet, but given how powerful his new nemesis is, Aquaman is going to need to be on the top of his game. Fortunately, the Trilance Saber compliments Arthur well. If he keeps putting in the work, Aquaman’s new weapon will be just what he needs to restore his kingdom.
