Independent studio Idoz & Phops recently unveiled a short trailer for Archvale, a new co-op, retro-inspired RPG. The new trailer showcases the game's unique art style and gameplay mechanics that are very reminiscent of other Carto and Supra Land.

The promotional video ed by Game Trailers displays some of Archvale's fast-paced bullet-hell combat, charming fantasy backdrop, and RPG sensibilities. Players will have an array of short, long, and mid-range weapons to choose from and will be able to swap weapons on the fly to adjust to varied combat scenarios. There also appear to be traditional RPG classes like rogue, knight, and mage, opening the door to even further gameplay variation. If the combat intensity gets to be too much, players can invite a friend to help them on their journey thanks to the co-op feature.

Considering Enter the Gungeon's overwhelmingly positive reception and the general affection it has garnered from the gaming community, the fact that new titles are channeling its spirit through similar gameplay mechanics and aesthetics shouldn't come as a surprise. Archvale doesn't appear to be a direct clone of the 2019 indie darling, however, as unique additions like co-op and a traditional RPG framework set it apart. If Archvale can deliver on its charming premise and hardcore combat, it will certainly be a welcome addition to the gaming landscape in 2021.
