Popstar sensation Ariana Grande has been enjoying plenty of career success in recent times. Not only has Grande become the newest judge on the singing competition show Wicked opposite Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.
With Grande continuing to gain popularity, it's no wonder that other shows and movies have featured her music in recent years. Whether during her Nickelodeon days or performed as a cover by talent competition hopefuls, Grande's music carries mass mainstream appeal.
"Give It Up" (Feat. Elizabeth Gillies)
Grande first entered the limelight thanks to her role as Cat Valentine on Victorious, which aired on Nickelodeon from 2010 to early 2013. Her voice is featured on the song "Give It Up," which she performed alongside her co-star Elizabeth Gillies.
"Give It Up" was not only featured on Victorious, but it also played in the background on two different episodes of its sister show iCarly. While the song came out years before Grande's pop music career would begin, it is still worth mentioning amongst its contemporaries.
"Positions"
Despite being the most recent release from Grande, "Positions" has already made headway by being featured on the rebooted Gossip Girl soundtrack. The song plays in the pilot episode under Kristen Bell's narration, setting the tone for the rest of the series.
Outside of Gossip Girl, "Positions" is Grande's fifth single to hit number one on the US charts and spent an impressive seventeen weeks on the Billboard top 10. While only time will tell if "Positions" is played more in television shows or movies, its impressive numbers spell great promise.
"Thank U, Next"
The title song of Grande's fifth studio album thank u, next was first featured on the UK's Legally Blonde, and more.
Elsewhere on the small screen, "thank u, next" is featured on The Voice, where it plays whenever Grande hits her button. As The Voice's newest and most promising judge, Grande's irreverent use of the song and her larger-than-life presence has already endeared her to fans.
7 Rings
As Fantasy Island.
The song also made an appearance in the Nancy Drew pilot episode, as well as The Voice when Team Ariana drafted contestant Katherine Ann Mohler. Ariana has also performed "7 Rings" live as part of a medley during the 2020 Grammy Awards.
"Into You"
The second single from Grande's album Dangerous Woman, "Into You" has been performed on television multiple times by Grande herself for The Voice, the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, and more. As with plenty of other Grande tracks, it has also featured in Love Island and Just Dance.
"Into You" has also found plenty of success in remixes and parodies of itself. Aside from being sung by John Clarence Stewart in season 2 of Jimmy Fallon where he dueted the song with Grande on Snapchat and used it to make fun of then-president Donald Trump.
"One Last Time"
Written by David Guetta and performed by Grande, "One Last Time" was initially released for her studio album My Everything and later re-released for charity, with proceeds going to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. The song was performed on America's Got Talent by group Musicality and on The Voice by Janora Brown and Shadale.
In one episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, lip-synced by drag queen contestants Roxxxy Andrews and Mz Cracker.
"Break Free" (Feat. Zedd)
With beats produced by Zedd and a music video that paid homage to classic science fiction, "Break Free" marks Grande's first major foray into the world of electronic music. Its cheerful take on the classic breakup song proved perfect for a tongue-in-cheek divorce montage on the television show The Detour.
Aside from appearances on competition shows The Voice, RuPaul's Drag Race, and America's Got Talent, "Break Free" also featured in Ice Age: Collision Course.
"Problem" (Feat. Iggy Azalea)
"Problem" earned Grande two different awards in 2014: "Best Pop Video" at the MTV Music Awards and 'Best Song' at MTV Europe Music Awards. Certified sextuple platinum and featuring Iggy Azalea, "Problem" has featured in everything from RuPaul's Drag Race to American Idol.
In addition to an appearance in season 4 of Girls, "Problem" holds the unique distinction of being the second of two of Grande's songs to play in the credits of an Ice Age film. This upbeat pop song can be heard through the end credits of Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
"Dangerous Woman"
As the title track to The Masked Singer, and played during multiple episodes of Love Island.
Contestants in Dancing with the Stars also performed to the quadruple platinum-certified track, and the song appeared in both the shows Girls and Star. Boasting themes of empowerment and a Grammy nomination, it's little wonder that "Dangerous Woman" has seen so much use in media.
"Bang Bang" (Feat. Jessie J And Nicki Minaj)
Performed in collaboration with singer Jessie J and rapper Nicki Minaj, Grande's "Bang Bang" boasts a wide variety of on-screen usage. With appearances in So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and The Voice amongst other shows, "Bang Bang" is one of reality TV's go-to songs for performances and background music.
"Bang Bang" has also enjoyed success in serialized television and film as well. It was featured in episodes of Pitch Perfect 2.
