Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as the legendary character Dutch in new DLC for Predator: Hunting Grounds. For the first time since the original Predator, fans will see the mercenary hero in action.
Released on April 24th for PS4 and PC, Predator: Hunting Grounds is an online asymmetrical shooter set in the Predator universe. Four players drop in as an elite team of guerrilla soldiers while one takes on the role of the Predator, hunting them along their mission. This is not the first time this genre has been adapted by a movie franchise. As with the Unlike Friday The 13th: The Game however, no rights issues have developed in light of the game’s release. Despite offering three distinct and exciting Predator classes, players currently have just a few load out choices for their mercenary characters. To remedy this, IllFonic is upping its game in this first DLC.
The since the original film, his participation in the project was quite the feat on IllFonic’s part. The DLC is set to release on May 26.
Though playing as Dutch will be paid DLC, there is a free component to the add-on. Players will unlock voice-tapes as they level up. Each tape contains a piece of Dutch’s story recorded by the man himself. Fans will learn where the character has been since his last appearance in the story, making this DLC a legitimate expansion for the Predator universe. Purchasing the DLC not only grants access to an appropriately distinguished version of the character but also his classic knife and the new QR5 “Hammerhead” Rifle. It is yet to be determined how else playing as Dutch will alter gameplay, but so far it is clear Schwarzenegger will be delivering classic lines as players take on their adversaries.
IllFonic has plans for more DLC each containing a free and paid component. Perhaps the protagonists from Predator 2 or Predators will make an appearance along with their continued stories. Regardless, Predator: Hunting Grounds has distinguished itself as a true episode in series by revealing what became of Dutch.
