In the scene that made its way to air, things play out differently. In the version of the scene that was used in the premiere, Tommy makes light of his failed marriages, while Oliver reacts disappointingly to the news his mother and Malcolm are married before asking to be excused. However, there was no confrontation before he left the room. This isn't the first time the Arrowverse has toyed with parallel Earths or brought characters back from the dead. Laurel Lance, who died in the series' fourth season, was brought back using her The Flash also took a trip to a version of Earth-2 in one of the show's earlier episodes, "Welcome To Earth-2".

Arrow's eighth and final season did a wonderful job bringing back fan-favorite characters and working them organically into Oliver's story. Reuniting with characters like Tommy, Moira, and Malcolm Merlyn was a terrific surprise and did an effective job of showing how far the show had come since their characters were last seen. This alternate version of the dinner scene from the Arrow's season 8 premiere gives off an entirely different, more aggressive tone. The scene used in the final product was a far better choice, showing Oliver's focus on his mission in addition to the wear and tear he feels after going through so much - specifically with these three characters, in a much more subtle, nuanced way. Regardless of how fans may feel about this deleted scene, they can revisit the eight and final season of Arrow when it releases on home media April 28.
