Even though there's no denying that epic superhero battles in which heroes not only take on the bad guys, but also save the world or the universe (or both) are epic, superhero stories have another important aspect to them. They're just as focused on their heroes, who they are, who they want to be or could be. The Arrowverse is no exception to this rule.
The individual shows are giving its heroes (and sometimes villains as well) enough space to evolve and change. Some change for the better, some for the worse, but all of them undergo an intriguing journey. However, some characters haven't gotten the happy ending they would have deserved.
Got A Fitting Ending: John Constantine
After his solo show got canceled after just one season, it looked like John Constantine was done in the Arrowverse. But John turned things around when he ed the Legends.
He hasn't had an easy life and isn't the easiest person to get along with, yet he still managed to find good friends in the team. He's found a new family in the end and there's also his budding relationship with Zari that could lead to interesting places if they stay together.
Deserved Better: Nora West-Allen
Barry's and Iris' daughter Nora played a big part in the fifth season of The Flash. She traveled back in time to meet her dad who disappeared when she was just a little girl. Nora had a dark secret that her parents didn't know about, though - she was working with Eobard Thawne.
In the end, Nora ended up erased from existence when the team destroyed the villain Cicada's dagger. That came as a big shock to her parents who witnessed Nora's death and had gotten attached to their future daughter.
Got A Fitting Ending: Joe West
Despite all the troubles and dangers he faces on regular basis, Joe West seems like a happy guy. He has a job he enjoys and which he knows makes the world a better place to live for people who can't defend themselves.
He has a smart and beautiful wife and is a loving father to his four children. Joe's the type of person who can usually find good things even in bad situations.
Deserved Better: Leonard Snart
Leonard Snart AKA Captain Cold was and continues to be one of the Arrowverse's most popular characters.
From villain to hero, Snart initially caused troubles for the Flash, but he later ed the Legends and switched sides. He took it one step further when he sacrificed his life to save his team and give them the chance to defeat their big enemy, Vandal Savage.
Got A Fitting Ending: Superman
Superman hasn't had that much space in the Arrowverse just yet, which should change with his Superman and Lois TV show.
However, whenever he appeared in the fictional universe, he seemed like he was doing alright and was happy with his life. He has a job he likes and a woman he loves by his side, plus, they started a family together and are now proud parents.
Deserved Better: Firestorm
This one might feel like a bit of cheating since it includes not one, but two people. Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein at one point formed the superhero Firestorm, but both of them died.
Ronnie sacrificed his life to stop a singularity from destroying the world, even though he and Caitlin had recently gotten married. And Martin died while he was fighting Nazis on Earth-X, leaving his family and friends behind.
Got A Fitting Ending: Ray Palmer
Ray Palmer might not have been the most sympathetic character when he first appeared on Arrow, but that quickly changed. Ray wanted to build a legacy, leave his mark on the world, change it for the better. As he put it, he wanted his life amount to something.
He achieved all of that and more while he traveled through time as one of the Legends. In the end, Ray found the love of his life in Nora Darhk, and together, they left the ship to start a new chapter of their lives, quite possibly a more peaceful one.
Deserved Better: The Lance Family
The Lance family simply can't catch a break in the Arrowverse. Quentin Lance battled alcoholism and he lost his daughters - multiple times. Laurel died while fighting Damien Darhk in Arrow's fourth season. And Sara was killed in Arrow's third season only to come back to life later thanks to the Lazarus Pit. However, she has struggled with her killing instinct ever since.
Even though the Lance family later returned back amongst the living, they still suffered more than they had deserved.
Got A Fitting Ending: Thea Queen
Not all of the Queen family got their happy ending, but Oliver's half-sister Thea was one of them. Thea started out as a spoiled child, hurt by the presumed death of her brother and dad.
However, as time went on, she became a fighter, turned her life around. Thea worked alongside the team but then decided it was time to move to another stage of her life. She did a job she liked and she found the right partner in Roy Harper.
Deserved Better: Oliver Queen
After everything he's been through, all the difficulties and losses of his life, Oliver deserved better than to die - twice. It's true that he helped to save the universe this way and his friends and family. However, he still had a lot to live for, not only his job but most importantly his wife and children.
His legacy will live on, but one must wonder how many more great things Oliver could have achieved had he stayed alive.
