Whenever a comic book hero or villain is brought to life, the costume is always one of the most essential elements to get right. With the Arrowverse, several characters have jumped from the s of comics to the screen since 2012. But over the course of all the shows, as they progress season after season, the looks have gone through evolutions. Some of the upgrades have been better than others, but some of the characters are getting new looks. However, in the last few years, a number of characters have been stuck with the same design whether they’re still on the shows or not.

Following Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new universe should come with some fresh costume upgrades. Whether it’s characters who are still active within the Arrowverse or those who left seasons ago, there are heroes out there are due for a new look. These are 10 Arrowverse characters who desperately need a new costume as soon as possible.

Hawkman

Carter Hall as Hawkman

While Legends of Tomorrow’s version of Hawkman didn’t live up to his comic counterpart, the costume was a problem from the start. After making his debut in the Heroes Forces crossover, the design for his look always came off as lackluster. Even though Carter has had a variety of looks in the comics, the Arrowverse version was always uninspired.

If Hawkman ever makes it back to any of the shows, there better be a costume change. Since fans haven’t seen him after he departed in season 1, it has been long enough to justify an upgrade.

Hawkgirl

Legends of Tomorrow - Hawkgirl

Similarly to her partner, Hawkgirl suffers from a lazy costume design that she was stuck with until Kendra left with Carter in the season finale. Just like Carter in the comics, Kendra/Shayera has had several designs that have been more compelling than what the TV version was given. It’s unclear if the Hawks will ever be seen again, whether they’re played by the same actors or not. But should Kendra return one day, she should have evolved her Hawkgirl look at that point.

The Atom

Legends of Tomorrow the Atom

Ray Palmer, who was one of the original Legends, just recently left the time-traveling drama after 5 seasons. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the end of The Atom’s run in the Arrowverse, whether it’s Ray or possibly his successor Ryan Choi who made his TV debut in the latest crossover.

The Atom suit hasn’t changed since Ray created it all the way back in Arrow season 3. The comic version has gone through several iterations going from spandex to more armor based, similar to the TV version. If Ryan, just like in the comics, takes up the mantle of the Atom someday, it’s definitely time for an upgrade, one that might be less Iron Man and more Atom.

Black Canary II (Dinah Drake)

Arrow Dinah Drake Black Canary

Even though Arrow came to an end this year, there is still the potential X-Men films in the early 2000s.

Green Arrow II (Mia Queen)

Mia Smoak as Green Arrow in Arrow

Despite the fact that Oliver’s final gift to Mia was her own Green Arrow suit, the new Emerald Archer deserves to have her own look. The costume she got in the crossover was more or less based on Oliver’s final suit. One of the consistent issues with Oliver’s costumes was always the color choices.

While he went by Green Arrow, the green was way too dark with most of his costumes. If the spinoff does go to series, Mia should get to design her own look, one that might embrace the brighter green this time around.

Jay Garrick

A major The Flash character whose whereabouts have yet to be addressed post-Crisis is Jay Garrick. With Earth-3 seemingly not being one of the worlds that got restored, the mystery about Jay will need to be solved at some point. When that time comes, Jay is another hero that could benefit from a new look. Even though the design they went for is more modern, Jay’s suit never felt like it came from the Golden Age of heroism. His comic version, while simple, is more iconic and captures that tone better which hopefully can be adapted this time around.

Jesse Quick

Jesse Quick

Another speedster who is MIA is Jesse Quick as Earth-2 was destroyed prior to the crossover. Even though Oliver revived Earth-2, it’s now known as the home of the DC Universe series Stargirl. Whether or not Jesse lives there has yet to be clarified.

It’s likely that Jesse will be revealed to be alive whenever Violett Beane has the availability. When that happens, Jesse should reemerge with a brand new suit. While her current costume is solid, it should be ed that it was a hand-me-down from the speedster villain Trajectory. Jesse has a variety of designs in the comics that should be looked or inspired by for the Arrowverse version.

Spartan

It remains to be seen when or where Arrow’s John Diggle will be seen again after the series finale in January. Diggle has had a handful of Spartan looks since he began suiting up several seasons ago. As strong as his last upgrade was, Diggle, more or less, has no choice to change his look now. After discovering a certain green ring, Diggle better be sporting a Green Lantern suit the next time he is suited up for some superhero action.

Superman

The next spinoff that is officially ing The CW slate next season is Supergirl season 2, Clark’s Man of Steel costume has barley gone through any changes. But enough time has ed now for the Boy Scout to get a fresh look as he gets ready for his spinoff.

Elongated Man

Elongated Man in The Flash Costumes

After making his debut in season 4, it didn’t take long before Ralph Dibny suited up as the Elongated Man. While the look had its appeal for a season, his color schemes from the comic costume are a better option. Currently, Ralph’s suit comes more off as a tracking suit than a superhero costume. As the current season is expanding upon Ralph’s mythology, with the introduction of Sue Dearbon, it might be time to get a design that is closer to his comic counterpart.
