Star Wars characters. Since her debut, Ahsoka has gone from a rebellious Padawan to one of the most pivotal agents for change. With Marvel Comics' announcement of a new Star Wars comic title set after Return of the Jedi, the opportunities to expand upon Ahsoka's story are endless.
A good portion of Ahsoka's whereabouts between the end of Star Wars: Rebels and her live action debut in The Mandalorian are unknown.
The only pieces of information fans get are from bits and pieces of backstory mentioned in ing in the Ahsoka Disney+ series. Even the canon novel, Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston, focuses on the period directly after Ahsoka left the Jedi Order and before she ed the Rebellion as Fulcrum. But the new Star Wars title by Alex Segura and Phil Noto, releasing this May, could fill in the gaps.
Ahsoka Tano Became One of the Most Important Star Wars Characters Soon After Her Introduction
A Fourteen-Year-Old Togruta Changed the Star Wars Landscape
Voiced by Ashley Eckstein and played in live action by Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka Tano made her debut in the 2008 animated movie, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The movie acted as the pilot for the popular animated series of the same name. Ahsoka is introduced as a fourteen-year-old Padawan to Anakin Skywalker, and like her Master, Ahsoka has a tendency to rebel against the rigidity of the Jedi Order. While this makes Anakin and Ahsoka a perfect match in ideologies, the two go through some growing pains before becoming an inseparable team.
Though fans were slow to warm to the initial introduction of a brand-new character connected so inherently to Anakin Skywalker’s lore, Ahsoka’s character development quickly won over the hearts of Star Wars fans. Known for her strong moral code and feisty attitude (that earned her the nickname “Snips” from Anakin due to her snippy response to orders), Ahsoka’s storylines in Star Wars: The Clone Wars were some of the most important, heroic, and emotional beats.
Her strong sense of justice makes Ahsoka, ironically, the perfect Jedi.
In season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka realizes that the Jedi Order is not as just as the Jedi claimed it to be and leaves the Order behind. Though she renounces the title of Jedi, she continues to travel the galaxy to do what she believes is right. Her strong sense of justice makes Ahsoka, ironically, the perfect Jedi. Sadly, Ahsoka may have been one of the characters who could have helped Anakin avoid his descent to the Dark Side.
After the Jedi Order Fell, Ahsoka Became Part of the Rebellion
Star Wars: Rebels Expands Upon Ahsoka Story During the Rebellion
After the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Johnston’s novel Ahsoka gives readers an isolated story about Ahsoka’s time directly after the fall of the Republic. Ahsoka is next seen on screen in Star Wars: Rebels as an intelligence agent for the Rebellion known as Fulcrum. She works with the rebels to help defeat the Empire, with Star Wars: Rebels ending with Ahsoka and Sabine Wren setting out to find their lost friend, Ezra Bridger. That is the last time fans know of Ahsoka’s whereabouts or motives until The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian takes place approximately five years after Return of the Jedi, which coincides with the end of Star Wars: Rebels. When fans see Ahsoka again in The Mandalorian, the biggest detail she reveals about her actions over the past five years is that she has been seeking information about Grand iral Thrawn. In her solo Disney+ series, Ahsoka, the additional detail that Ahsoka once trained Sabine Wren as a Padawan is revealed.
The Star Wars comic by Seugra and Noto, meanwhile, takes place after Return of the Jedi. Details about Ahsoka’s actions are mostly unknown in this era, so the comic could be the perfect opportunity for the Star Wars franchise to answer pressing questions about the character. Since the end of Star Wars: Rebels coincides with the end of Return of the Jedi, it would be interesting to see exactly what Sabine and Ahsoka’s search for Ezra looked like and what led to the two ultimately parting ways on shaky .
How the New Star Wars Comic Can Address Gaps in Ahsoka's Story
There Are Many Unknown Years to For
In Ahsoka, there is a distinct tension between Sabine and Ahsoka that could be attributed to different causes, including their inability to find Ezra and Sabine’s failed Jedi training at Ahsoka’s hands. Segura and Noto’s Star Wars comic would act as a perfect medium to tell this missing story and give more meaning behind the rift between Ahsoka and Sabine, as no explanation was ever given as to how or why Ahsoka and Sabine’s mission failed.

Star Wars’ New Villain is Far Deadlier than Fans Know
Thrawn is the new main villain of Star Wars canon, and while many know how ruthless he is as a leader, they have no idea the extent of his deadliness.
In The Mandaloian, Ahsoka’s unrelenting quest to find information about Grand iral Thrawn is attributed to Ahsoka having heard rumors of Thrawn’s return. But questions still remain about where these rumors came from and why Sabine wasn't part of Ahsoka’s mission, as the two of them vowed to find Ezra and Thrawn together. In addition, fans will want to know how long Ahsoka has been gathering intel on Thrawn and what sparked that quest. These questions - and more - fit perfectly into the timeframe of the Star Wars comic.
Segura and Noto’s Star Wars could answer these questions, as well as show Ahsoka’s relationship with her former Master's children. As Ahsoka was unaware of Pe’s pregnancy and the twins’ existence, the comic provides the perfect opportunity to show the first meeting between Luke, Leia, and Ahsoka. As Ahsoka loved Anakin on such a deep level, with Anakin acting as a big brother figure in her life, Anakin’s children would no doubt be an emotional discovery for Ahsoka in Marvel's latest Star Wars title.
