The way the player customizes their island is a testament to their attention to detail, as every corner of the island can be manifested into something spectacular. Considering the game only released this March, individuals have dedicated hundreds of hours into the game, collecting resources, playing with friends, and building the perfect getaway. The real enjoyment in the game is getting to that final step where players can just take in what they have created. Asian Inspired Design Tips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
While there is no correct answer on how a player wishes to customize their island. These helpful items will help demonstrate how their island could be inspired by Asian culture.
- Bamboo: This is a type of plant that will not grow naturally on the player's island. They will need to venture out using their Nook Mile tickets to locate one. Bamboo can be found commonly growing in Southeast Asia and is the perfect plant to scatter around the island. Players can create entire Bamboo forests or use it as decoration for the outside of their homes and pathways.
- Mossy Garden Rock: Players will be able to find these items inside of a balloon or inside of a bottle. To craft it, players will need 1 Rock and 15 Weeds. It's beautiful for any player's garden or scared place. It would go well in a players Bamboo forest or graveyard.
- Imperial Items: These items will be occasionally sold at Nook's Cranny for a different price. These items range from a bed, chest, shelves, low table, partition, chairs, dining table, and dining lanterns. These are perfect for bringing some Asian inspiration into the player's home.
- Imperial Fence: For the outside of the home or around the island, players can purchase the Imperial Fence DIY for 2,000 Nook Miles at the Nook Stop terminal.
- Pagoda: This is a scared building in many Asian cultures. Players can be rewarded with this item by assisting Gulliver whenever he's in trouble.
- Katana: This is a powerful Japanese sword that players can put on display. Players can be rewarded with this item by assisting Gulliver whenever he's in trouble.
- Beckoning Cat: This item is believed to bring good luck to its owner in many Asian cultures. Players can be rewarded with this item by assisting Gulliver whenever he's in trouble.
- Laundry Basket: Players will be able to find these items inside of a balloon or inside of a bottle. It's a handmade Laundry Basket and it only requires 3 Softwood to craft. These would be used to hand wash clothing using a washboard and a bucket of soap and water.
- Zen Cushions: Players will be able to find these items inside of a balloon or inside of a bottle. The neat thing about this is it works perfectly for both inside the player's home or outside in the world. Players can set up a picnic, dining room, and more with these comfortable seats.
- Zen Fence: An alternative from the Imperial Fence. Players can buy this with Nook Miles. This requires 3 Iron Nuggets, 3 Clay, and 3 Rocks to create.
- Zen Gravestone: Players will be able to find these items inside of a balloon or inside of a bottle. It requires 30 Rock to craft. This is great for players who wish to have an Asian-inspired Graveyard for their island.
- Stone Construction: From bridges to staircases, make sure to use Stone items. The stone versions cost 168,000 Bells to be built. Also, players can make the Zen bridges for a hefty 228,000 Bells.
- Bonsai Shelf: This adorable plant is perfect for the inside of any Asian-inspired home. Players will be able to find this item inside of a balloon or inside of a bottle. They will need 1 Cherry Bonsai, 1 Pine Bonsai, and 8 Wood to craft it.
- Outdoor Bath: The player can buy this recipe using Nook Miles. The player will need 20 Rock and 1 Shovel to make it possible.
- Gong: The player can find the recipe from a balloon or wash up on the beach in a bottle. This will require 6 Iron Nuggets and 5 Wood.
The way the player wishes to customize their island is ultimately up to them. Although, most fun players will have will be messing with all of their possible options. Eventually, players will unlock the option to terraform. With this, players can change the look of mountains and bodies of water around the island, providing the player with more customization options than ever before. This is unlocked after KK Slider makes an appearance on the island after the players have successfully reached a 3-star rating. It's very easy to get lost spending hours on creating the perfect island paradise. It's relaxing, constructive, and allows a level of escapism that has yet to be met by any other game to release this year.
