As a token of appreciation, AC Valhalla continues to sell well, opinions on the content itself are rather divisive amongst fans.

Several weeks after launch, developer Ubisoft Montréal rolled out the Yule Festival update, which added seasonal quests and activities that later expired. The content then began to dry up, leaving players to question Ubisoft's focus on the latest Assassin's Creed entry, especially following concerns about ongoing for microtransactions. Things have improved in recent weeks, though. For example, the free River Raids update arrived in mid-February, introducing a new game mode centered around Assassin's Creed Valhalla's raiding component. Today, Ubisoft Montréal unleashed Title Update 1.2.0, a patch that debuts the Ostara Festival, the Transmogrification feature, and three extra skills. Players can access a few more goodies in the Animus Store, too.

In a post on the Assassin's Creed Twitter , Ubisoft announced that all players can now visit the Animus Store and unlock the Godly Reward free of charge. This "community appreciation gift" gives fans access to Altaïr's armor from the original Assassin's Creed, Yule Festival rewards, and 300 Opal, the latter of which acts as in-game currency for items that are purchasable through Reda. A subsequent post from the Assassin's Creed page noted that some s have encountered a [0x70000d03] error when trying to unlock the Godly Reward. The team is presently investigating the matter.

Free content as an appreciation gift to players is nothing if not a good gesture, and hopefully the development crew is able to identify whatever issue hinders some fans from unlocking the free items. But whether or not this marks a turning of the tide for AC Valhalla remains to be seen.

Notably, some AC Valhalla players considered the Assassin's Creed Odyssey at no extra cost. Taking all of the above into consideration, it'll be interesting to see how Assassin's Creed faithful respond to the Ostara Festival and the game's future paid DLC, the first of which, Wrath of the Druids, is set to arrive on an unspecified date this spring.
