Summary
- Valhalla offers a wide array of weapons, allowing for diverse playstyles in its vast open world.
- DLC expansions like Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris introduce potent weapons to enhance gameplay.
- Weapons like Excalibur, Hemming's Axe, and Petra's Arc offer unique perks for thrilling battles.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continues the welcome series trend of providing players with a large variety of weapons to choose from, ensuring multiple play styles are viable in its large open world. The lands of Valhalla, from the British Isles to Norway, are littered with weapons aplenty, ranging from swiftly maneuverable swords to damage-dealing flails. Some weapons in Valhalla, however, stand out among the pack.
While there are fewer weapons in the Assassin's Creed Valhalla base game compared to previous games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Origins, the ones it does have still provide players with the freedom to experiment and personalize their play style. The DLC Wrath of the Druids, Siege of Paris, and Dawn of Ragnarok have further expanded this inventory, and some of the game's most potent options come from these expansions. Whether using an axe to deliver powerful melee attacks or wielding a trusty bow to strike from afar, there’s no shortage of weapons in Valhalla.

Every Way Assassin's Creed Valhalla Has Changed Since Launch
Since its release in late 2020, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has received many updates, adding game modes, seasonal content, and much more.
Excalibur
The Sword of King Arthur
One of the legendary weapons in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is King Arthur’s sword, Excalibur. Before finding the legendary sword Excalibur in Myrdinn’s Cave, players must go through an arduous journey around the British Isles to collect various treasures. Some of these relics are in locations where players must defeat Zealots, and it’s not always easy.
The tedious journey to get this greatsword in Valhalla is worth it. It has great levels of Stun, Attack, and Critical Chance stats and an entertaining perk. Every time players land Heavy Finishers or Criticals during a fight, the blade lights up and distracts nearby enemies. It’s an epic moment to witness, making even the hardest battles in Assassin’s Creed more thrilling.
The stats below indicate Eivor's power level of 1 to show the variance in stats equally.

Hemming’s Axe
High Damage For Reckless Players
After completing the saga "The Tale of Two Jarls," players will acquire the powerful Dane Axe, Hemming’s Axe. The two-handed weapon has decent stats, with its Stun level being especially high. It also has a much higher starting strength stat than Excaliber, but it is a little slower, so you’ll want to get as much as possible out of each hit.
However, this Assassin's Creed Valhalla melee weapon is so strong that its perk kicks in when players need a helping hand. The axe increases the player's heavy damage when their health bar gets too low, allowing for more flexibility and for players to adjust as needed. The extra strength really does make a difference against heavy-hitting bosses like Fenrir or Balor.

Varin’s Axe
A Dependable Axe
This simple axe from Eivor’s father is definitely one of the more underappreciated weapons in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It’s easy to assume that Varin’s Axe isn’t exceptional since players get it as part of the main storyline early in the game. However, Varin's Axe can easily make it to the late-game stage, which is excellent for players who want to master and stick to one weapon.
With the right upgrades, the bearded axe can be surprisingly powerful. Consecutive hits with this weapon increase its speed, which makes it great to pair with other one-handed weapons. It’s also ideal to match with the Sarcophagus Shield, increasing players' defense capabilities while maintaining a decent attack speed.

Fafnir's Fang
Dual-Wielding Spear
Fafnir's Fang can be acquired early in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and the spear can prove a very effective weapon to defeat the early boss Rikiwulf and other low-level enemies. What's better is that it scales well, with upgrades allowing it to do some serious damage to remain competitive as the game progresses.
Fafnir's Fang tends to really shine when paired with another weapon. While slightly silly in concept, dual-wielding spears prove a very effective way to tackle many enemies in the game. Pairing it with a one-handed axe like Varin's Axe also makes a solid combination, combining increased speed with the spear's increased critical chance in brawls.

How to Unlock the Secret Ending in Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Many players may not realize that there is actually a secret ending in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This guide shows how to unlock the secret ending.
Petra’s Arc
High Stealth Damage
Petra’s Arc is arguably the strongest bow in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The predator bow isn’t easy to get, as players have to hunt down four legendary animals for the local Hunter’s Hut NPC, Wallace. Oblivious has a great video showing you how to get this high-damage bow as quickly as possible. It is well worth your time, particularly for anyone investing heavily in The Way of the Wolf builds.
The high attack damage easily makes up for the bow’s low speed, and if it's the players' primary weapon of choice, then speed likely doesn’t matter too much. This is because this bow is best suited for stealth builds. High precision, combined with its Critical Damage perk that increases damage when at full health, makes for a powerful long-range weapon, particularly as stealth builds should not take damage from that great a distance.

Skadi's Wrath
Fast Light Bow
Skadi's Wrath offers a powerful alternative for players interested in a faster, lighter bow than Petra's Arc. Players with good aim can make particularly good use of this bow, as striking weak points offers an increase in Critical Chance that gives Skadi's Wrath the ability to deal some serious damage.
Skadi's Wrath isn't necessarily the weapon for players who want something unique or awe-inspiring in its abilities, but it delivers unquestionably strong performance. Among Vallhalla's selection of light bows, Skadi's Wrath earns the easiest recommendation as a weapon that's definitely worth picking up.

Mjolnir
Heavy Late-Game Damage
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has Easter eggs hidden all over the game, so, unsurprisingly, one of its best weapons is taken straight out of Norse mythology. Thor's hammer needs no introduction, as it’s easily the most recognizable among the legendary weapons in the game. It's a fairly light weapon with high strength and speed.
There's a challenging process to go through to find Mjolnir in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and one of the only downsides to wielding this weapon is that you can only get it toward the end of the game when there’s little left to do. However, it's still worth it, as its guaranteed lightning stun damage can easily overpower enemies, especially when strengthened with damage runes. And you can always take it with you into the DLC content, allowing you to wield it for longer than you might have.

Blacksmith's Hammer
Heavy Stunning Potential
Employing the Blacksmith's Hammer may not be as cool as wielding the legendary Mjolnir, but the weapon proves that it's no slouch in battle easily enough. Any concern over its simpler aesthetic is matched by the bonus of being able to wield it for a much longer amount of time. Markus Maximus's video has a quick breakdown of where to find the Blacksmith's Hammer if you have not come across it already.
Landing heavy critical hits with the Blacksmith's Hammer knocks down AC Valhalla enemies every time, making it easy for players to press the advantage more frequently. It is the same weight, does the same amount of Critical Damage at max level, and is a little faster than Mjolnir, although you will not get the satisfaction of seeing the lightning stun all enemies. The weapon batters through defenses easily, and upgrading it will allow for easy takedowns of enemies with shields.

How to Start Siege of Paris DLC in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The Siege of Paris is the second DLC to come to Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This guide will show players how they can start this new adventure.
Spinning-Death Flail
Elemental Flailing With Style
Sitting in an inconspicuous chest in Jorvik, shown off in this video by upgrading in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is often better than higher rarity items.
Its ridiculous perk makes it even more exciting, which will sometimes literally set the ground on fire. There’s a 40% chance for Heavy Finisher Hits to cause the flail to drop a Fire Bomb, which can also incinerate nearby civilians if Eivor isn’t careful. You should be careful when you swing this weapon, but the high chaos potential and elemental damage is worth it, particularly if you have added buffs for the Way of the Raven.

Carolingian Longsword
Heavy Attack Damage Hunter Bow
Of the Hunter Bows available in the base game to players, the Arc of Elan is one of the most powerful. For those wanting to add it to their collection, Oblivious' video shows you right where to find it, and it's well worth the effort. It has a very high attack and stun rate, which in and of itself would make it a good bow, but there's more to it than that.
The Arc of Elan also has a perk that can stack on top of itself, and you do not have to do anything special to get the effect. Simply hitting enemies multiple times in a row will allow them to stack, as each successive hit will increase the bow's ability to damage. This can make it a very deadly weapon and great for anyone who prefers bow combat in the game.
