There are plenty of twists and turns throughout Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but a few key events could spoil the entire game. With multiple paths and possible endings, it's difficult to determine which decisions matter and which options are inconsequential to the overall plot. Additionally, there are several moments toward the end of the game that completely change how the story is perceived and what it all means in relation to the rest of the series.

Although there are a lot of dialogue options and choices to make, only a handful of them are included in determining if players will get the best ending in Assassin's Creed ValhallaFurthermore, these choices specifically affect Eivor's life and their relationship with Sigurd, but the biggest story twists occur regardless of the choices made while conquering England. The bigger spoilers involve the present-day characters or revolve around Eivor's revelation of who their true enemies are.

Eivor Denies Odin In Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Biggest Story Spoilers Odin & Eivor

Throughout the story, both Eivor and Sigurd feel a connection to the gods, but the extent of that connection isn't revealed until close to the end of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Not only can Eivor enter a dreamlike state to envision Odin's life before Ragnarök, but it turns out they're actually a reincarnation of the All-Father. However, it turns out Odin is actually trying to kill Eivor in order to regain a physical form. When Eivor resists Odin's control, the surprisingly villainous god starts attacking. In one of the endgame fights, Eivor has to fend off and escape Odin's grasp as he tries to pull them back and trap them forever in the Isu machine.

Odin's sinister intentions aren't as big of a spoiler after completing the Asgard storyline because it becomes clear very quickly that he will do whatever it takes to stave off death. Even when Ragnarök threatens to completely ruin Odin's existence, he finds a way to preserve his mind with the intention of one day returning to a physical form. When considering the lengths Odin goes to in order to save himself, and his many selfish decisions, such as killing Loki's son, it's not surprising that he'd try to manipulate Eivor. At first, the hall that Eivor is brought to seems like a Viking paradise, but the protagonist quickly realizes it's a prison and an empty life. Ultimately, Odin's manipulations fail, and Eivor is inspired by the people they love to maintain control of themselves. Eivor defeats Odin in Assassin's Creed Valhalla by refusing to fight a remnant of the powerful god.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Is Unkind To Layla Hassan

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Biggest Story Spoilers Layla Reader Tree

Layla Hassan, the present-day protagonist in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, follows in Desmond's footsteps in that she voluntarily sacrifices herself for the greater good. Additionally, her sacrifice sets free a powerful entity, although Desmond releasing Juno may be much worse for humanity than Basim getting free of the Isu machine. Layla's journey through Eivor's life leads her to the Isu machine and an entity called The Reader. Although she delays a world-ending disaster by slowing the machine, she also ends up staying with The Reader to analyze alternate timelines and find a way to save the world from impending doom.

At the end of Layla's story in Assassin's Cred Valhalla, it's also revealed that Basim, Loki's reincarnation, sent the original message that led the team to Eivor's grave. He claims to have ed Layla after analyzing data with The Reader and determining another disaster was eminent. However, he also confirms that he could have slowed the machine built by Assassin's Creed's Isu precursor civilization, which is what Layla was there to do. When Layla meets The Reader, she decides to stay until they can find a permanent solution, and she initially intends to leave after. However, The Reader informs Layla that she has just over a minute before the radiation exposure kills her physical form, and it's then she realizes that Basim used her to set himself free. Basim takes the Staff of Eden that was protecting Layla's body and leaves her to be trapped forever inside the Isu machine.

Basim's Betrayal Was Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Biggest Spoiler

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Biggest Story Spoilers Basim Smiling

Although the similarities between Basim and Loki were suspicious early on, the extent of their connection was unclear. Basim acted as an ally to Eivor and seemed to aid Sigurd in his pursuit of glory. However, Basim was directly responsible for putting Fulke in Sigurd's path, and after the pair met, the rest of the events in Assassin's Creed Valhalla's timeline were quickly set in motion. Basim was pulling the strings to cause all of Sigurd's suffering in England, and he masterfully manipulated him by feeding his ego. Ultimately, Basim revealed himself to be Loki's reincarnation, and, despite some clear similarities, it was still a surprise when he betrayed the Raven Clan.

There are some major clues along the way in Basim's dialogue, but his telling comments are said in ing and are easily missed. One of the biggest reasons Basim's betrayal was unexpected is because there was no indication that he was aware of his connection to Loki. At the start of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Eivor, who s the Assassins, had barely scratched the surface of their connection to the gods. It takes a lot of digging and mental strain for Eivor to realize how deep these connections run, and their realization that they're the reincarnation of Odin doesn't come until the end of the game. At first, it doesn't seem that Basim knows he's Loki's host. Even as the story progresses, Basim helps Eivor in their conquests, and it seems as if he's trying to assist in finding and saving Sigurd.

Even after being trapped by the Isu machine, Basim finds a way back through Layla and arrives at the cabin where Shaun and Rebecca are in the present-day storyline. The pair leave Basim in the cabin, and he decides to explore more of Eivor's memories using the Animus. Basim's intentions for the Order at the end of the game are unclear, but fans may get some answers in the next installment. The next main Assassin's Creed title will focus on Basim as the main protagonist, so digging into the story spoilers in Assassin's Creed Valhalla may offer some insight into what the next game will feature.
