The ROG Phone series is manufactured by Asus, and offers features such as a high refresh rate display, plenty of RAM, advanced cooling, a large battery, and fast charging. Asus also sells accessories for the smartphones to enhance the gaming experience, such as a game controller and cooling fan.
The ROG Phone 7 series is scheduled to launch on April 13, and Asus will hold simultaneous events in Taipei, Berlin, and New York. While Asus hasn't revealed much about the smartphone, some key details have been leaked by a reliable source. For starters, the ROG Phone 7 series will only have two models according to tipster Abhishek Yadav – the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. Unlike the ROG Phone 6 series, there doesn't seem to be a Pro model this year.
The ROG Phone 7 Will Feature Upgraded Cameras
Both smartphones will have similar specifications with the key differences being the RAM, storage capacity, and rear display. Like several Android flagships launched in 2023 so far, the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The chipset will be paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage on the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. The RAM and storage for the standard model wasn't stated, but buyers should expect it to be available in multiple configurations. Asus launched a MediaTek version of the ROG Phone 6 in 2022. While there is no news of a MediaTek version of the ROG Phone 7 yet, there might be one in the future.
The two phones will have triple rear cameras that include a 50MP primary rear camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP macro camera. The front camera will be getting a big boost from the 12MP sensor of its predecessor to a 32MP sensor. Asus will ship the new phones with Android 13 with a custom UI on top. Like the previous generations, the new phones should offer the option to switch to a vanilla interface.
The battery capacity of the phones is currently unknown, but a certification document has revealed the ROG Phone 7 will 65W fast wired charging like the ROG Phone 6. While the processor and cameras appear to be the main upgrades, s can expect other new features. There are only a few weeks before the ROG Phone 7 series arrives, so all the details will become available to the public soon.
