Easily considered by many to be one of the greatest ongoing anime right now, Attack on Titan's Season 4 is already sending fans down a blistering roller coaster that is full to the brim with some of the best moments of the show.

A big part of what made Attack on Titan such a worldwide phenomenon is definitely its wide cast of excellent and well-written characters, each of whom has managed to make the plot all the more memorable and engrossing with their masterful character arcs. Of course, that being said, one has to it that some character arcs in the show are definitely better than others.

Jean Kirstein

Jean Kirstein from Attack on Titan

Initially coming off as a rather unlikeable character in the form of Eren's rival, one has to it that Jean has definitely come into his own as a character with the progress of the story.

While one can definitely make the point that Jean's character does end up floundering a bit after his dynamic with Eren becomes somewhat moot, there's still no denying the fact that he's still a strong part of the story.

Hange Zoe

While she might lend to more of the comedic moments in the story — something that is very much required, given the inherently dark nature of the anime — that's no to say that Hange isn't a pushover when it comes to her character by any means.

If anything, she's one of the smarter characters in the series and ends up being a massive help in a number of situations. Her obsessive personality ends up being a hallmark of her character, however — something that ends up limiting her character from growing all that much.

Zeke Yeager

Zeke Yeager from Attack on Titan

While not much is known about Zeke Yeager at this point, the relation that he shares with Eren certainly makes him a rather unique personality who has a ton of room to evolve in the series, even though the show might currently be in its final season.

Only time will tell just how impactful and memorable this character will really be. But, given all the things that have already been set in place, the only trajectory for this character does seem to be a positive one.

Erwin Smith

Erwin Smith leading the charge against the Beast Titan - Attack on Titan

Erwin was easily one of the most likable characters in the entire show, with his sense of resolve and moral com being commendable in every way, shape, and form.

This is precisely what makes his final moments all the more painful to witness, especially since his survival was pretty much guaranteed... had it not been for the fact that Armin had also been placed in a similar predicament and only one life could've been saved.

Historia Reiss

Historia Reiss from Attack on Titan

While Historia might've taken a backseat to the events of Attack on Titan's final arc — for now, at least — there's no denying the massive impact she had as Christa Lenz back when she was a part of the Scout Regiment.

The reveal of her true identity was something that no viewer could've expected, making her mission to overthrow the regime and become the new Queen of the Walls a notion that fans could easily get behind.

Reiner Braun

Reiner and Bertholdt's betrayal is still fresh in the minds of viewers who saw this iconic moment in Attack on Titan. Both characters used to be close friends of the Scout Regiment, and their subsequent reveals as the major antagonists of the story certainly sent most fans reeling with the dire implications of the same.

While Bertholdt's role was pretty much nixed after his demise at the hands of Armin, Reiner still plays a major role in Attack on Titan. He's definitely poised to engage in another battle with the Scout Regiment — something that fans can't wait to witness with their own eyes.

Armin Arlert

Out of the original trio that escaped the Shiganshina massacre and ended up making it to the Scout Regiment, Armin is perhaps the smartest — and the most underconfident — of the lot.

Initially coming off as a rather shy person who had a hard time making his voice heard, Armin slowly transformed into a competent battle strategist who ended up securing a ton of victories for the Scout Regiment. Of course, the fact that he is literally a Titan now with massive power certainly adds more weight to his character as well.

Mikasa Ackerman

Mikasa from Attack on Titan

When one talks about some of the most iconic female characters in anime history, it goes without saying that Mikasa Ackerman would definitely be at the very top of that list.

A character who prefers to let her actions speak for her as opposed to her words, Mikasa has quickly established herself as one of the best of the Scout Regiment and a stand-up character in her own right.

Levi Ackerman

While initially coming off as a stern commander with absolutely no patience whatsoever, the cool-headed Levi quickly redeemed herself in the eyes of audiences with his interesting persona and amazing combat skills.

He's been through a ton of strife in the past, with the losses in his life — Furlan, Isabel, and Erwin — further strengthening his resolve as a character.

Eren Yeager

Perhaps one of the most unique and conflicted main characters ever in an anime, Eren Yeager is easily one of the best parts of Attack on Titan, with his childhood and powers being directly tied to the events of the overarching plot itself.

Given the manner in which his character has drastically changed in the manga, one can't help but wait and see how the reception to his altered persona is going to be as the show starts catching up to its source material.
