Here's everything we know about the  confirmation of Attack on Titan season 4, part 3 arrived.

The official promo refers to this latest extension as "Attack on Titan Final Season Final Arc," which says something about how many times MAPPA (Attack on Titan animation studio) has played the "final season" card. Episode 87 concludes with Eren Jaeger's Founding Titan making land in Marley, and the allied Subjects of Ymir traveling by boat to an Azumabito port - a stopping point before they set off to prevent Eren wiping out humanity.

Now the anime series is scheduled for yet another batch of episodes, here's everything we know about Attack on Titan season 4, part 3.

Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 Releases In 2023

As per the official announcement from MAPPA, Attack on Titan season 4, part 3 will release in 2023. A more specific date hasn't yet been offered, but using the gap between parts 1 & 2 as a rough guide, it'd be reasonable to expect Attack on Titan season 4, part 3's premiere in January or February - especially with only 9 manga chapters left to animate.

Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 Story Details From The Manga

Eren Founding Titan form in Attack on Titan

A glance at Hajime Isayama's original manga indicates Attack on Titan season 4, part 3 will largely comprise one final battle against Eren Jaeger's Founding Titan. We'll also see more flashbacks to the Survey Corps' time with Ramzi (the young pickpocket from episode 87) and his family, and as most viewers would've guessed, Mikasa and her allies haven't heard the last of Floch Forster. Attack on Titan season 4, part 3 must address the outcome of our romantic pairings (Eren/Mikasa, Armin/Annie, Floch/himself), and explain how the world moves on politically, now the status quo of Eldians and Marleyans has been forever altered by Eren's genocide. A few more pieces of Eren's time-bending Attack on Titan plan, Ymir's motivations, and the origin of the Founding Titan need filling in - as well as unresolved queries such as Mikasa's strange headaches.

Attack on Titan's manga did not end without controversy. A flashforward in Hajime Isayama's final chapter reveals the world's fate many years after Eren Jaeger's assault, and leaves the door firmly ajar for a sequel series. Attack on Titan season 4, part 3 won't necessarily answer every question cleanly either - a possible omen for 2023's finale.

Why Attack On Titan Isn't Ending With A Movie

Survey Corps in Attack on Titan

Once it became clear Attack on Titan season 4, part 2 lacked the episode count to complete Hajime Isayama's story, rumors of a movie finale began to circulate. With under 10 chapters to adapt - most of which cover the final battle - and the immense big screen success Dragon Ball SuperJujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer have enjoyed of late, finishing Attack on Titan in theaters seemed distinctly plausible. Ultimately, MAPPA has chosen to simply tack Attack on Titan season 4, part 3 onto its ever growing "final season" instead.

As annoying as the rug-pulls have been, an Attack on Titan movie finale would demand top-tier cinematic animation, which, of course, means a longer production period, and a bigger gap between Attack on Titan season 4, part 2 and the anime's ending. Any Attack on Titan ending movie faces a challenge marketing itself toward newcomers and casual fans, while loyal viewers would resent being forced to purchase a movie ticket to see how their favorite TV anime ends.
