Attack on Titan is an exciting series filled with great fights, incredible transformations, and some of the strongest men around. While it may seem redundant to rank the series' strongest men in a series due to a lack of well-written women, some of the strongest characters in Attack on Titan are women, including Annie Leonhart, Mikasa Ackermann, and of course, Ymir Fritz. The men in Attack on Titan are all strong in their own way. Some men, like Jean Kirchstein and Levi Ackermann, rely on their skills as soldiers to get them through the toughest battles.

Other characters, like Zeke Yeager or Armin Arlert, are at their strongest in their Titan Forms, relying instead on their massive size, unreal healing abilities, and more to defeat their enemies. No matter if these characters are fighting for Marley or for Paradis, whether they can transform or not, they're the strongest men in Attack on Titan.

10 Jean Kirstein

A Smart Soldier and Capable Asset

Jean is a calm, collected soldier in Attack on Titan. He's one of the 104th Cadets, ranking 6th in his graduating class. The only people that ranked above him were Titan Shifters and an Ackermann, which isn't bad company to be in at all. While he can't turn into a massive Titan like his friends and enemies, Jean is great with the tools he has at his disposal. He can use his omni-directional gear like the best of them, is more than brave enough to take on Titans and soldiers alike, and even fought Eren in an awesome fist fight once.

10 Biggest Differences Between Attack On Titan's Manga & Anime

Attack on Titan's creator Hajime Isayama had the opportunity of changing key story elements once AoT was animated. Here are the biggest differences.

1

Jean is an expert with the Thunder Spears, one of humanity's strongest weapons. He was almost able to defeat the Armored Titan while using them and even knocked out the Cart Titan's left eye. If Jean could become a Titan, he'd easily be one of the strongest in the series.

9 Bertholdt Hoover

The Colossal Titan Who Brought Down the Walls

Bertholdt Hoover is a sad character in Attack on Titan. Like Reiner and the other Warriors sent to Paradis, Bertholdt was convinced that the island was filled with devils. He transformed into the Colossal Titan and broke Wall Maria, setting the events of Attack on Titan into motion. Like Armin, Bertholdt was a kinder man who didn't care for much conflict. He was no pushover, however, as he was willing to do what it took to get the job done on numerous occasions.

Bertholdt's Colossal Titan is massive. It's one of the largest Titans in the series and can emit giant amounts of super-hot steam. Bertholdt uses his power during his transformation, where he can drop scores of enemies at once. The Colossal Titan is one of the strongest Nine Titans and Bertholdt was able to use its power well during the time he had it.

8 Kenny Ackermann

Captain of the Anti-Personnel Squad

Kenny Ackerman is a pretty twisted character. He's Levi's father figure and maternal uncle, but he's also the person trying to hunt Levi down. He's a former serial killer who killed over 100 military police officers before the events of Attack on Titan. As an Ackermann, he's one of the few characters that the royal family can't control. His bloodline also gives him a huge advantage on the battlefield, as he's equal measures lethal, unforgiving, and brutally intelligent.

10 Most Tragic Attack on Titan Backstories

Attack on Titan's characters are no strangers to grief and heartbreak, and that is made clear in their tragic and often violent backstories.

If he wasn't hunting humanity's strongest soldier, he probably would have gotten his target. Kenny uses specialized omni-directional gear to hunt down his opponents. He's also the leader of the Anti Personnel Control Squad, an elite squad of trained soldiers focused on hunting the Scouts down. Growing up in the underground of the walls, Kenny earned enough street smarts for multiple lifetimes, making him even more tenacious on the battlefield.

7 Falco Grice

The Flying Jaw Titan

Falco Grice didn't get much time as the Jaw Titan, but he didn't need to. He used his newfound Titan Shifter abilities very well in the final fight against Eren and the Rumbling. Falco accidentally ingested some of Zeke Yeager's DNA, giving him characteristics similar to the Beast Titan. While Falco's Jaw Titan came with a smaller form, dense muscles, and two jaws, he also eventually sported wings and other features more akin to a bird.

Attack on Titan is a grim story of war and terror that contains many battles, and these are ten of the most emotional and action-packed.

2

His outer jaw is strong enough to bite through hardening created by other Titans and his wings are strong enough to his body in flight. Falco isn't the strongest Warrior on the battlefield, but that was before his Jaw Titan powers. With the Jaw Titan, he can bite through anything and anyone in an instant. Good thing there isn't another War Hammer Titan to bite through.

6 Erwin Smith

The 13th Commander of the Survey Corps

Erwin Smith is responsible for one of the greatest speeches in anime. The Beast Titan, Zeke Yeager, has him and the rest of the Survey Corps pinned down thanks to expertly placed rocks thrown at lethal speeds. The Corps are hiding behind a building, but it's only a matter of time before their cover is taken from them. Erwin then uses the moment to deliver a heart-pounding speech that gives his Scouts the strength to look death in the eye as they ride towards their enemy.

Erwin's intelligence, skills as a leader, and overall tenacity make him one of the strongest men in Attack on Titan. He might not be able to transform into a Titan, but he can motivate his troops to fight like one. He's smart, forward-thinking, and willing to lay down his life for his cause.

5 Zeke Yeager

The Beast Titan

Zeke Yeager is a complicated character in Attack on Titan. He was forced to adopt his father's ideals at an early age, becoming a Warrior for Marley and eventually becoming the Beast Titan as well. Zeke is one of the smartest characters in Attack on Titan and the War Chief for the Warrior Unit. As the Beast Titan, he can control other Pure Titans through simple vocal commands. While it isn't as effective as the Founding Titan's ability, it's still crazy strong.

The Beast Titan is the only Titan that's lethal at range. While the Cart Titan has a gun attached to it, the Beast Titan can simply pick up a pile of nearby rocks and throw them at devastating speed. Zeke even uses the Beast Titan's throwing abilites to toss Mike Zacharias's horse right at him, knocking him off the building he was on and effectively killing him.

4 Armin Arlert

Armin's Colossal Titan Can Drop Nukes

Armin Arlelt might be the strongest character in Attack on Titan who doesn't really want to be strong. He's a sweet, calm, non-confrontational person who has become the newest Commander of the Survey Corps and the last Colossal Titan. Armin might have the single strongest ability when he transforms. All Titans emit incredible heat when they transform. As the largest Titan by some distance, Armin can let off a near-nuclear explosion when he transforms.

10 Best Armin Moments in Attack on Titan

These ten courageous and clever Armin Arlert moments prove why he is Attack on Titan's best hero and most talented Survey Corps Commander.

He single-handedly destroyed almost all the Marleyan Navy when he transformed in Marley. He didn't even need to stomp the ground with his giant Titan feet or swing his massive arms around. All Armin needs to do is turn into his Colossal form, emit as much heat and energy as possible, and melt the people around him away. It's an unreal power used begrudginbly by Eren's best friend.

3 Reiner Braun

The Armored Titan

Reiner Braun is a brutally tragic character in Attack on Titan. He was brainwashed as a child to believe that all the people on Paradis were evil, leading him to break Wall Maria and kill thousands of innocents. His guilt destroyed him as he got older, but it didn't change the fact that he was one of the strongest characters in the series. As the Armored Titan, Reiner is nearly unkillable. His thick armor covers nearly every part of his body, and his insane regeneration abilites always keep him in the fight.

To Reiner's credit, he's a tenacious guy. He gets beaten time and time again, but he's not one to stay on the ground. He's constantly fighting Eren, and even though he only controls one Titan to Eren's three, he usually does a pretty good job. As a human soldier, Reiner was one of the strongest Scouts as well.

2 Levi Ackermann

Humanity's Strongest Soldier

Levi Ackermann is a specimen in Attack on Titan. Even though he has no Titan powers, he fights like he does. He's smart, tactical, and absolutely lethal. He's known as humanity's strongest solider, and it's easy to see why. When he finally gets his hands on Zeke as the Beast Titan for the first time, he slices him apart with ease. Later in the series, Levi is ambushed by his father figure, Kenny Ackermann, and a ton of enemy troops. Levi flies through the city like Spider-Man, taking minimal damage while returning fire all at the same time.

10 Best Attack On Titan Characters who Deserve Their Own Spinoff

Attack on Titan is a massive series with incredible set-pieces, amazing fights, and amazing side characters who deserve their own spinoffs

Levi's expert use of his ODM gear and his years of experience on the battlefield make him the only human, bar Mikasa Ackermann, that is stronger than all Pure Titans and most Titan Shifters. He might not have a chance against a Titan in an open field (without Erwin Smith's sacrifice), but in a city with buildings and his own ODM gear on, he's untouchable.

1 Eren Yeager

The Founding, Attack, and War Hammer Titan All in One

Eren Yeager is easily the strongest character in all Attack on Titan, regardless of gender. He's the only character in the series to have three seperate Titans' powers at once. Eren was the Attack, Founding, and War Hammer Titan all in one. While he missed out on the Colossal Titan's nuclear ability and the Armored Titan's armor, his ability to summon other Titans to help him fight might be the strongest in the series. Beyond just being strong in battle, Eren also started the Rumbling, single-handedly destroying 80% of the world's population in one of the biggest events of mass destruction in anime.

Eren is so much stronger than everybody else in Attack on Titan that he has to let his friends fight him.

He summons them all to the paths to tell them to come after him, and even reassures everyone that he won't get in their way, even though he can. His death is incredibly tragic, but even according to him, entirely necessary.
