About Geoff Poundes

Having traveled extensively as a boy he developed a sharp eye for the world's curiosities, particularly in society's murky margins. He took this dystopian view to university where he obtained his literature degree. After a few painful years in the commercial sector, he turned to full-time writing and editing, publishing his first novel, The Religion of Birds, in 2016. There followed a stageplay, TV scripts, and a second novel, which remains in process. He's a member of The Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, and runs a successful editing business.

He lives in the UK with his wife, two daughters, and their four horses and two dogs.

Since writing is his ion it's not only his job but also his hobby.

 

Industry Focus

He's focussed on documentary film for its own sake, and all subjects and genres. Given his love of sports he particularly enjoys sporting stories, but high-quality investigative work that uncovers truths are particular favorites.

Author Details

His keen interest in film documentaries was first piqued by Paul Hamman's 1987 masterpiece Fourteen Days in May, which inflamed him enough to foster a lifelong love affair with the genre.
