Valerie's love of all things pop culture started with her parents sharing their love of Science Fiction and Fantasy when she was a child, and grew to encom a love of all things genre, as well as British Television, Film, Music, and Literature. She's the person who is always gushing about some new thing. Something she's discovered and fallen in love with, and then must share with everyone she possibly can.
Favorite Media
Valerie's focus is largely on British and other international media, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Genre programming. She's a big fan of the MCU (especially the Captain America Franchise), and holds a special place in her heart for the Harry Potter stories (even though the author has proven herself to be awful) because they were introduced to her by her favorite aunt, who ed away several years ago.
She loves visiting theme parks and getting lost in the magic of Disneyland, Universal, and even Knott's Berry Farm.
Be careful if you ask for a book recommendation in her hearing, as she's going to start gushing about Jasper Fforde's work. Fair warning.
Industry Focus
Valerie is a writer at MovieWeb and Screen Rant, Host of the Pop a la Carte Podcast, and former Managing Editor of the late lamented WithAnAccent.com.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Long Beach, with a focus on British and Modern European History.
