Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter are ready for their long-awaited dance in brand newuntil later in the year when marketing officially starts. Given that, fans are keeping themselves busy by theorizing what might happen in the blockbuster and how things might end for their favorite heroes.
Recently, one fan proposed a stinger for Avengers 4 that involves Steve arriving in the afterlife with Peggy waiting for him. Soon after, many Marvel followers got behind the idea although ittedly, chances are, that it won't be the post-credit scene for the much-anticipated sequel. Despite knowing that, an artist took it upon himself and translated the idea into a beautiful artwork which has garnered interest from those who the narrative.

Digital artist time travel is expected to be a major factor in Avengers 4, perhaps there is still a way for this idea to come to fruition even if it's not in the form of an end tag. In the meantime, fans will have to settle for the said illustration which can be seen below:
Looking closely at the image, it's interesting to see Steve's shield all bloodied - a sign that he may have fought a hard battle before finally succumbing to death. Considering what the Avengers are up to in next year's ensemble film, there's no doubt that it won't be a walk in the park to defeat Thanos. If anything, Infinity War proved him to be a very scary opponent, especially when he's so motivated to achieve his goals. Couple that trait with the idea that he wields the power of all six Infinity Stones makes him one of, if not the most dangerous villain the MCU has ever seen thus far.
It's also worth noting that the artwork insinuates that Cap will take the shield with him to the afterlife. Obviously, the propositioned scene is more likely just a dream sequence with no bearing whatsoever in the established MCU reality, so that means that the iconic shield could still be up for grabs once its original bearer sadly es on. Mining inspiration from the comics, there are ways Marvel can continue the legacy of the Star Spangled Avenger, like handing the mantle to either Sam Wilson aka. Falcon or Bucky Barnes aka. the Winter Soldier/White Wolf. But while both have taken the persona of Captain America in print before, it's uncertain if Marvel Studios will be quick on their heels to replace Steve Rogers in that role considering how beloved that character is by fans.
