At San Diego Comic-Con, where Screen Rant is in attendance, Marvel announced that Avengers 5 will officially be called Avengers: Doomsday.

Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Enters The MCU
Avengers: Doomsday does not seem to be based on a particular event from Marvel Comics. However, there is a chance the MCU movie will connect to the Ultimate Comics: Doomsday collection. There, the story follows Marvel heroes trying to find who was behind a series of tragic events, which ended up being the evil Reed Richards variant known as the Maker. The movie could have Doctor Doom be the perpetrator of those events instead, with Downey's character possibly starting as a friend of the Fantastic Four and then turning on them.
There is also a chance that Marvel Studios chose to call its next Avengers movie Doomsday simply to make it a major event that could replace Marvel's plans for Kang. Doctor Doom plays a large role in the comics' Secret Wars, so he was always expected to appear in that film in some way. By making Avengers: Doomsday the team's next entry, that role can be perfectly set up, with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom taking over Kang's place as the main villain of the MCU's Multiverse Saga.
The live-action Fantastic Four films never explored the full potential of Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday can make the villain the main character of the film, much like Thanos was the lead in Avengers: Infinity War. With Downey cast as the MCU's Doctor Doom, that seems almost guaranteed to be the case. As such, Avengers: Doomsday could introduce Latveria, one of the most important locations from Marvel Comics, establishing a solid foundation for Doctor Doom's role in the MCU beyond Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday will bring Earth's Mightiest Heroes together for the first time in the Infinity Saga. Not having appeared since Avengers: Endgame in the MCU Phase 3, the wide range of heroes must find a way to come together to defend Earth once more.
