An updated version of the marketing approach for Avengers: Endgame, which is hiding as much of the plot as possible, and instead highlighting the characters who will lead the final installment of Phase 3.

The unquestioned stars of the film are the original six Avengers: Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, Chris Evans' Captain America, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye. While the plan to reverse Thanos' snap from the end of Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man to the team, and the entire roster of heroes assembled to star in the official poster for Endgame. Everyone from Thanos to Rocket to Danai Gurira's Okoye were shown - but Gurira was noticeably lacking from the billing portion of the poster.

The lack of recognition for the Black Panther star quickly became the source of some outrage online by fans who were furious that Marvel did not credit her with the rest of the film's pictured stars. It took them a few hours, but Marvel has now re-released the Endgame poster to include a credit for Gurira. They shared the new design on social media saying: "She should have been up there all this time."

Avengers Endgame Poster Danai Gurira Credit

The outrage online over Gurira's absence from the poster is justifiable, as every other star featured on the poster was credited on the originally released version. It isn't clear why Gurira was left off the billing to begin with, but at least Marvel fixed their oversight in a reasonable amount of time. Interestingly, Gurira has yet to be shown in any new footage in Endgame's marketing, so even though they're now giving her proper billing, they are still largely concealing her role.

With Gurira featured in the poster (and now credited), it's hopefully a sign that she will have a semi-important role to play in Endgame. Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and possibly Shuri (Letitia Wright) were victims of the snap, so Okoye's leadership and commitment to Wakanda may be all the more important in the current state of the world. How Wakanda factors into Endgame is currently a mystery, and there's yet to be any sign that Okoye will the Avengers on whatever missions they go on. Thankfully, there are only a few more weeks left before Avengers: Endgame hits theaters and we'll get to know exactly what role Okoye has to play here.
