A deleted scene from Elizabeth Olsen will return as Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange 2.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed what Scarlet Witch's future held last year at San Diego Comic-Con, with plans for her Disney+ show WandaVision also announced. It was there that it became known that WandaVision would directly lead into the story of Doctor Strange 2. The show will prove instrumental in setting up how Wanda and Strange cross paths, as they have so far had no interactions in the MCU. Although they both played big roles in Avengers: Endgame's final battle against Thanos and his army, they did not meet (as far as we were shown). But, a new behind-the-scenes image revealed a deleted that would change that - and set up their adventure together.
The new image of a help of Wanda's hex powers. Since this would've given them a chance to team up, it is also likely that this scene could've been used to establish a connection between the characters that Doctor Strange 2 could continue exploring. Even though this scene was ultimately changed, the good news is that the Doctor Strange sequel still has the opportunity to do so.
The full context of Avengers: Endgame's scrapped Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange team-up might not be known, but the possible implications of the scene are intriguing to consider with Doctor Strange 2 in mind. If Wanda helped Strange keep the water from overtaking the fight, he would get to witness Scarlet Witch's power first hand. It's possible that this close up view of Scarlet Witch would allow Strange to learn that the power that Wanda has resembles magic or some other practices that he might be familiar with.
Another aspect of Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange working together in Avengers: Endgame that could've set up Doctor Strange 2 is if he noticed that she's not quite in control of her powers. Doctor Strange 2 is going to explore the multiverse and there are many theories about Scarlet Witch is the "multiverse of madness" the sequel's title teases, Strange might have been able to see that Scarlet Witch is dangerous if she can't control her powers.
Since Avengers: Endgame robbed fans of the ability to see an early example of Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange working together, it is now up to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to deliver on the excitement the image generated. Now fans will just have to hope that the film's production stays on schedule so the wait doesn't extend beyond the sequel's current May 2021 release date.
