In the latest issue of Empire Magazine [via very different marketing plan for Avengers 4, though the nature of that plan was left to speculation. Now, Joe Russo confirmed they did consider revealing no marketing at all for Avengers: Endgame. He said:

We did. We talked about all scales of marketing. The thing that's most important to us is that we preserve the surprise of the narrative. When I was a kid and saw The Empire Strikes Back at 11am on the day it opened, and sat there until 10pm watching it back to back to back, it so profoundly moved me because I didn't know a damn thing about the story I was going to watch. Fans are no doubt glad that the Russos decided against releasing no new Avengers: Endgame marketing whatsoever, especially as the trailers have so far included little moments that manage to get viewers hyped while not spoiling any of the story. One such moment is the meeting between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Carol Danvers aka. Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) in the latest Avengers: Endgame trailer. The character-driven clip reveals little, if anything about the film's story, but it's a scene that features two favorite characters and, as such, has worked exceptionally well to increase fan anticipation for the Marvel Studios movie.

After all, perhaps even more so than seeing how the Infinity Saga storyline concludes, MCU fans are looking forward to seeing their favorite characters interacting - especially those who haven't met onscreen before. Certainly, Avengers: Endgame runtime will be closer to three hours, the movie will have plenty of time for both action and character-driven moments. And with the film's directors holding back as much as they can, fans will be able to go into Avengers: Endgame relatively unspoiled.
