This meme refers to this scene at the beginning of the movie when Thanos is searching for the tesseract and Thor believes the stone was destroyed. Though Thanos seems unsurprised, Thor was shocked to see his brother suddenly conjure the tesseract, which is what inspired this meme to be created. Despite handing the magical object over to the enemy, Loki tries to deceive Thanos to kill him but ends up dead in the process.
Captain Isn't Joking Around
Fans of the MCU can't forget Captain America: Civil War when Tony Stark and Steve Rogers quarrel because Steve refuses to sign an agreement with the United Nations. And his views of being bullied around by the big bosses carried on into later movies.

Though Doctor Strange makes it clear that there's only one reality in which they win against Thanos, and it means losing against him first, many fans still blame Peter Quill for their failure in Infinity War.
This His mistake causes Thanos to break free from their hold when Peter Parker is close to getting the gauntlet off their enemy. Some fans blame Quill for the tragedy that ensues, but many believe Strange proved it was destiny.
Thor Fails
During the final fight sequence in the film, Thor stabs Thanos believing it will kill him and end the fight. However, it barely affects the villain, with him responding to the blow with, "you should've gone for the head."

To Dust
When Thanos succeeds in completing his gauntlet with the power of all of the infinity stones, he snaps his fingers and disintegrates half of the universe's population.
It's a tragedy to know half of the people they fight so hard to protect are wiped off the face of the earth. However, there are also several major characters that turn to dust as well. This meme is directed toward the main characters that vanish, including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the Scarlet Witch, and the Black Panther.
Goodbye, Spider-Man
All fans were shocked at the end of the movie when they have to witness several central characters disappear, supposedly never to be seen again.
However, how much Peter Parker meant to Tony Stark. When he begins to disintegrate, Peter clings to Tony, terrified about disappearing. Peter is the youngest Avengers and the one who Tony tries to protect every step of the way. No fandom likes to see their heroes fight so hard against an enemy just to see the villain turn out victorious.
There was so much shock following the victory of Thanos, and fans couldn't possibly dislike him anymore after everything he did. This meme isn't just referencing the shock ending of Infinity War but the reaction of fans when they learned he would be back in the final Avenger's film, Endgame. However, it also left the audience hopeful as they awaited to see how Thanos would meet his end.
