We're just days away from Avengers: Infinity War, and as opening night approaches we're learning more and more about what fans can expect from the flick. We've known for some time that Avengers: Infinity War is going to be Thanos's movie, but now we're hearing more details about MCU's most notorious villain and how this latest movie will basically be a Thanos biopic.

We know from past interviews with Screen Rant that Avengers: Infinity War is truly Thanos's movie. Brolin's Thanos and Chris Hemsworth's Thor both receive the most screen time despite this being an ensemble movie that features all of MCU's main characters. Screen Rant sat down with writers and producers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and got some insight in to how this latest offering will give fans more of a backstory on Thanos. Here's what they had to say.
Christopher Markus: I mean, I sort of him saying in the conference room one day something like, are we talking about a Thanos biopic? And everybody kind of going, yeah, we are? You know, don't expect, you know, a purple baby being born at the beginning of the movie.
Stephen McFeely: But it is, it's a lot on his shoulders.
Director Anthony Russo also revealed when he knew the storyline was taking shape.
For me, I think the law of identity, the moment I felt like we had cracked the movie creatively was when we started to think about Thanos as the lead character. And I think that there was a tipping point there for all, for Joe and I and Markus and McFeely where the movie all of a sudden started to feel like we knew we had a great angle into the story. We knew that was a fresh way, perspective that tell the story, but also felt organic and right to what the story was because Thanos is the only figure that unites all of these wild disparate corners of the MCU. I mean they're all unrelated from each other except for the fact of Thanos and the fact he's after these stones. Everything just started to line up. It made sense for our plot, but it also felt creatively adventurous, and challenging, and fresh. I think that's when the movie really started to take on the life of what it became.
While Infinity War will definitely be headlined by Thanos, it will still be a true ensemble movie where we'll get to see all the other of the MCU come together to battle The Mad Titan. Both Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky) previously told Screen Rant that despite the focus being put on Thanos, their characters and others in the movie will still have their own journeys to travel.
Needless to say, fans are thrilled to finally learn more about Thanos and discover if he truly is the villain we've all been waiting for. The MCU has a history of bringing us villains we love to hate, with Loki and Killmonger being two of the most recent villains fans can't get enough of, but it's also left fans wanting more with some villains as well. There's a lot of pressure on Avengers: Infinity War to live up to the incredible amount of hype the entire marketing campaign has generated for this movie, and the story of Thanos is a major factor in that success. With this new promise of Avengers: Infinity War truly being a Thanos movie and giving us a good chunk of the character's backstory, fans are optimistic this role will be all they've been waiting for. Let's hope so anyway. With all the hype surrounding this film fans won't be happy if Thanos and the entire MCU are given anything less than a great story.
