Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be missing some major MCU characters, which helps to ease some concerns with the ending of the Multiverse Saga. As one of four films currently confirmed for the MCU's Phase 6, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will mark the first Avengers crossover event since Avengers: Endgame at the end of the Infinity Saga. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was quickly attached to direct the epic Phase 6 project, while Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness will be penning the script. Recently, Loveness has been dropping hints about characters that will be involved in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Following Avengers: Endgame, the state of the Avengers in the MCU has been a point of huge contention since Phases 4 and 5 have focused primarily on solo stories, with only Phase 5's Thunderbolts assumed to be bringing together a new Avengers-style team. This has only increased anticipation for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, with many wondering which MCU heroes will be involved alongside Jonathan Majors, reprising his role of Nathaniel Richards, a.k.a. Kang the Conqueror, and his variants. While the details of Secret Wars are still under wraps, information has started to be teased about The Kang Dynasty, which spells good news for the film.

The Fantastic Four & The X-Men Likely Won't Be In Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Following the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Jeff Loveness has teased the inclusion of several characters in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but has also revealed the heroes who won't have a part to play in the Phase 6 film. Speaking to Fantastic Four and the X-Men wouldn't be involved in The Kang Dynasty, stating how he thinks "all that stuff is pretty far away." Suggesting that the Fantastic Four is "its own thing," and the X-Men are "being saved for a bit," Loveness revealed that not everyone will be going toe-to-toe with Kang in that movie.

In a separate interview with Blade won't be involved in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but stated that "it all informs itself," suggesting this is subject to change. The exclusion of some of the MCU's biggest heroes is curious but could also provide Avengers: The Kang Dynasty with an even stronger impact.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Won’t Be As Big As Infinity War

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could have easily been seen to be a repeat of Avengers: Infinity War since both will lead into another Avengers film and both mark the beginning of the end for their respective Sagas. However, these reveals from Jeff Loveness suggest that The Kang Dynasty will actually be a more low-key film than Infinity War, even though the Avengers' battle against Kang the Conqueror is set to be historic. Avengers: Infinity War was a monumental film for the MCU, bringing together almost every hero in the franchise to battle Thanos, including those who hadn't been fully integrated into the wider MCU, such as the Guardians of the Galaxy.

If the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and Blade are all omitted from Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, this could be promising a smaller-scale Avengers crossover film for the MCU's Phase 6. This could be to save room for a deeper exploration of Kang the Conqueror and his many variants. The Infinity Saga's Thanos was only one villain, so less time was needed to investigate his backstory and relationships with other characters. Nathaniel Richards, however, is hundreds of villains, each of whom has a complex personality that needs to be shown in The Kang Dynasty. Trimming the MCU's heroes in The Kang Dynasty is the perfect way to clear room for Kang.

The New Avengers Vs. Kang Needs To Be The Focus Of Avengers 5

he who remains with the avengers in marvel comics

When Avengers: The Kang Dynasty releases (currently scheduled for May 2, 2025), the new Avengers team in the MCU will still be incredibly fresh. There is speculation that the MCU's New Avengers will come together during Captain America: New World Order, but it seems more likely that Phase 6's empty slots will feature teases of the team coming together before they are officially formed in The Kang Dynasty. This means that the focus of The Kang Dynasty will need to be put on the dynamics between the new of the team rather than this being overshadowed by the inclusion of the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, or Blade.

Phase 1's The Avengers focused on the original Avengers team, Avengers: Age of Ultron did the same, and Infinity War and Endgame brought every MCU hero at the time together to battle Thanos and save the universe. Even so, it could be argued that the MCU's second Avengers team never got the spotlight they deserved, as Captain America: Civil War marked their first on-screen mission, which was pushed aside to allow the story of Captain America and Bucky to unfold. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would benefit from a smaller cast of characters and a more intense focus on their battle with Kang the Conqueror.

Which MCU Heroes Has Jeff Loveness Teased For Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?

Aside from discounting the inclusion of heroes such as the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and Blade, Jeff Loveness has teased which heroes might actually be involved in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The MCU's Phase 4 saw Tenoch Huerta debut as Namor, the King of the underwater nation of Talokan in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Since his introduction, many have questioned where Namor might appear next, and Loveness may have provided the answer as he mentioned to Namor will appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which is even more exciting after the reveal that he's the MCU's newest mutant.

In yet another interview with Polygon, Loveness delved deeper into Kang the Conqueror's motivations in the MCU, following on from his setup in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He ended the interview with a tease for The Kang Dynasty, stating that "[he wishes] Hawkeye a lot of luck. [He's] sure Daredevil and Moon Knight are gonna be great." This means that, along with Namor, Jeremy Renner, Charlie Cox, and Oscar Isaac can be expected to reprise their MCU roles in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. This also suggests that these characters will officially become of the Avengers, which is very exciting for the MCU's future.
