One major MCU theory suggests that Marvel Studios' location for the final battle of Phase 6's Loki. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed the development of Avengers: Secret Wars at SDCC 2022, expected to be the project to conclude the MCU's Multiverse Saga. Since then, the rumor mill has been spinning about which Marvel characters, past and present, could be featured in Secret Wars, and exactly what story will unfold in the Phase 6 project. Expected to be adapted from Marvel Comics' 1984 and 2015 Secret Wars crossover events, 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars could debut one major Marvel Comics location in the live-action MCU.

Although Marvel Comics' Secret Wars events told vastly different stories, both of them took place in Battleworld. In 1984's story, Battleworld was a planet created by the Beyonder which became the battleground for the Marvel Universe's heroes and villains. In 2015, however, Battleworld was created by Doctor Doom after an incursion destroyed the multiverse, with the mysterious planet comprised of broken pieces from a variety of alternate realities, allowing many variants to live alongside each other. It's unclear which version of Battleworld will be seen in the MCU's Phase 6, but one theory posed by Reddit Jumpy_Inflation_7648 suggests that Marvel Studios may have already introduced this exciting new location.

Loki’s Void May Be The Beginning Of The MCU’s Battleworld

The Reddit theory poses that the MCU's Void could be transformed into Battleworld for Avengers: Secret Wars. The Void was first seen in Loki season 1, episode 4, "The Nexus Event," which saw Tom Hiddleston's titular God of Mischief pruned from the TVA to find himself in a strange landscape surrounded by his variants. The setting was explored further in episode 5, "Journey Into Mystery," which revealed that the Void is wasteland at the end of time where everything the TVA prunes ends up, ready to be devoured by Alioth. Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius managed to escape the Void, but this may not be the last time viewers journey there.

Loki season 1 confirmed that Alioth doesn't devour everything in the Void, as huge cityscapes could be seen, and the Void included various Marvel Easter eggs littering the landscape. Very little in the Void has come from the same reality, so it seems to share similarities with Marvel Comics' Battleworld from the 2015 Secret Wars storyline, as the world is being formed by the discarded pieces of many alternate realities. The Reddit theory suggests that this could be the beginnings of Battleworld in the MCU, so it's possible that the Void could be revisited in Avengers: Secret Wars, perhaps with multiple variants of Marvel characters inhabiting the strange new world.

The Void Is Already Full Of Objects From Alternate Timelines

For Battleworld to be fully established in the MCU's Phase 6, many more timelines will need to be pruned to create the rich civilization that was featured in Marvel Comics' 2015 Secret Wars story. Even so, the beginnings of this can already be seen in Loki season 1, as the Void included several Easter eggs to Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios' histories. Not only were the Loki variants in the Void brilliant Easter eggs - as the likes of Kid Loki, Classic Loki, and President Loki also appear in Marvel Comics - but the Void also showed off a range of artifacts, objects, and buildings that hint at Battleworld beginning to form.

While a glimpse at a pruned Avengers Tower could be seen in the post-credits scene of Loki season 1, episode 4, this was later revealed to actually be a building belonging to QENG Enterprises, hinting at the Kang the Conqueror variant Mister Gryphon being introduced to the MCU. As well as this, a pruned Sanctum Sanctorum can be seen in the opening moments of episode 5, as well as a vast cityscape that spanned far into the horizon. This suggests that the TVA's pruning of massive cities could have created vast locations for civilizations to survive in the Void, just as they do in Marvel Comics' Battleworld.

Among the cities that have been pruned by the TVA in the MCU, many objects and artifacts are also included in Loki's Void, scattered across the wasteland. These include giant head statues that bear similarities to the MCU's Watchers, the Yellowjacket's helmet from Ant-Man, the Thanos-Copter from Marvel Comics alongside a huge bomb, Ronan the Acc's Dark Aster from Guardians of the Galaxy, a HYDRA-branded helicarrier, the Sphinx, a statue of the Living Tribunal, and the mysterious ship USS Eldridge. These collective objects prove that the TVA has pruned artifacts from many different realities, and that Alioth doesn't eat everything, which creates a strong basis for Battleworld to emerge.

Secret Wars Can Take Place In The Void, After Loki Season 2

Set to release on October 6, 2023, Loki season 2 is expected to revisit the Void, as Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Ravonna Renslayer can be seen in the Void in Loki season 2's first trailer. It's possible that the season could show off even more Easter eggs in the Void, as the TVA likely won't have stopped pruning without hesitation, so Battleworld could be one step closer to being officially introduced. This idea is backed up in the Reddit theory, which ponders what might happen if Alioth is somehow killed or incapacitated, which could occur as the creature has already been subdued by Loki and Sylvie's enchantment in Loki season 1.

Alioth acts not only as a means to clean up the pruned items in the Void, but also as a way to guard He Who Remains and the Citadel at the End of Time. After He Who Remains was killed by Sylvie, however, it seems Alioth may have now lost its purpose, making it easier for the creature to potentially be killed. If this happens in Loki season 2 or beyond, this would allow even more junk to collect in the Void, perhaps leading to rich civilizations and dominions to develop in the Void, perfectly mirroring the rag-tag pieces of other universes that came together to form Marvel Comics' Battleworld.

Creating Battleworld in this way would be a great way to introduce the location while fitting it perfectly into the world of the MCU. It seems like Marvel Studios is setting up an adaptation of 2015's Secret Wars event, as incursions pose a huge threat to the MCU's Phases 5 and 6 after the concept was introduced in Phase 4's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If an incursion destroys the MCU's multiverse in Avengers: Secret Wars, the Void from Loki, situated at the end of time, might be the only safe place left, which makes it the perfect place for the MCU's characters to gather and battle.
