To build a Berserker in Avowed's unique weapon options at your disposal, there are a handful of exceptional choices that make Berserker one of the most overpowered builds in the game. Berserkers will be able to perform devastating power attacks as well as strike out wildly with the Clear Out ability, once you've reached Level 20.
This build is viable from the very start, but will gradually become more and more brutal as you advance through the Fighter tree and acquire better unique armor and weapons. Bleed and Stun damage are core features of the Berserker build, with Avowed's Fighter abilities enhancing those effects on great hammers and axes. Barbaric Shout will be one of the highlights, making weapon attacks uninterruptable. The Horsecutter great sword and Just Pestle great hammer are personal favorites for weapon choices, but there are quite a few amazing options that take this build to the next level.

Best Attributes For A Berserker Build
Might For Damage, Resolve For Stamina, Dexterity For Attack Speed
No matter your choice of weapon, the priority attributes for a Berserker are Might, Resolve, and Dexterity — in that order. Might dictates the overall damage you deal from all sources, and is obviously an essential part of a Berserker strategy. Resolve is essential to increase Stamina, and with the amount of power attacks and frantic swinging you'll be doing in the fray, you won't want to run out of steam. Resolve also increases your Second Wind efficiency, giving you more health when you come back, while shortening the Second Wind cooldown.

Avowed: Best Parkour Build Guide (Abilities, Attributes, & Items)
Parkour in Avowed is a core skill, but it can also be enhanced for an incredibly powerful build featuring abilities like Power Jump and Power Slide.
Finally, depending on what fits your playstyle better, Dexterity and Constitution will be useful stats to invest in. Dexterity is going to be an important driver for Attack Speed, allowing you to get in more uninterrupted swings, while Constitution is crucial for health and endurance. If you find yourself taking a lot of damage and dying often, opt for Constitution over Dexterity, or find gear and/or consumables that help increase Health and/or Attack Speed.
Best Weapons For A Berserker Build
Two-Handed Great Weapons Include Horsecutter, Just Pestle & Emerald Splitter
You'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to heavy two-handed great weapons, and there are some excellent options available as early as Dawnshore. The Philosopher's Riddle and Seven Strivings are your clear choices until you reach Emerald Stair, where you'll have to decide if you want to swap them out for the Emerald Splitter and my personal favorite, the Horsecutter. Horsecutter synergizes extremely well with this build (especially with the Cull the Herd enchantment upgrade), although it will be replaced by the Limb-Taker in Galawain's Tusks later on.

While Horsecutter could get you through the entire game, there are arguably even better options once you reach Shatterscarp. The Just Pestle is acquired behind a secret door in the sulfur mines and can be enchanted to increase attack speed after a full combo attack, while the Inevitability great hammer is found in the Garden and increases movement speed when damaging enemies. Finally, the Limb-Taker is your best-in-slot weapon, and you can choose to specialize it in power attacks or attack speed. Forge's Friend can also be advantageous, but isn't available until late and isn't easy to track down.
Best Armor, Clothing & Accessories For A Berserker Build
Berserker Items Are Great, But Not Necessarily The Best
There is a Intimidating Feline Codpiece treasure map in Dawnshore and is a viable medium armor that could last the entire game. I prefer the Vailian Breast Plate or Sky Mother's Embrace over Berserker gear, because they increase movement speed and damage reduction.
Berserker Equipment Options |
|
---|---|
Medium Armor |
Vailian Breast Plate / Sky Mother's Embrace / Berserker Scale |
Gloves |
Bracers of Bloodletting / Skald's Gauntlets / Berserker Gauntlets |
Boots |
Sojourner Boots / Berserker Boots / Imp Catchers |
Amulet / Trinket |
Torc of the Warrior King / Thirdborn Tira Nui Badge |
Rings |
Berserker's Ring / Vailian Dueling Ring / Cipher's Bestowed Focus |
Guard Sunderer / Ring of Major Deflection |
The Berserker Gloves are primo, dealing +15% damage for Power Attacks, making them a frontrunner, but both the Bracers of Bloodletting and Skald's Gauntlets are excellent earlier options. The Berserker Boots increase stamina regen by 100%, making them superb for this build, but the Imp Catchers and Sojourner Boots are close runners up. Avowed for a Berserker include the Berserker Ring (+3 Con) and the Thirdborn Tira Nui Badge (+2 Might), as well as the Guard Sunderer, which causes Power Attacks to inflict larger hit reactions.
Best Abilities For A Berserker Build
Utilize Fighter Abilities Primarily, With A Couple Dips Into Ranger
There are many Fighter abilities in Avowed that make the Berserker build overpowered, starting with the Charge opener, building up to the Clear Out ability at Level 20, and plenty of options in between. Barbaric Shout is integral to this build, so grab it early and use it often. If you're using a great axe or great sword, take Bleeding Cuts, and once you find a unique great hammer, start investing in Stunning Blows. Brawn is another huge damage driver, while Constant Recovery can help mitigate Health if you're low on Constitution.

Flurry of Blows |
If Stamina is an issue, take Armored Grace or Evasive (Ranger). Make sure to pick up Clear Out, too. Two abilities from the Ranger tree are highly recommended: Bear Ally and Flurry of Blows, the latter of which gives you maximum attack speed. You'll also want to take advantage of Giatta's Acceleration ability as much as possible for increased movement and attack speed. Taunt and Into the Fray are also strong abilities if you have the extra points to invest.

Avowed: Best Assassin Build Guide (Abilities, Attributes, & Weapons)
Avowed is full of the perfect gear for an assassin build, including unique weapons, armor, abilities, and accessories that enhance stealth attacks.
Overall, the Berserker build is just what you'd expect: lots of quick and heavy attacks that deal loads of Bleed and Stun and obliterate enemies. You'll absolutely want to enable the Totem of Perseverance in Galawain's Tusks as well, as each of its bonuses uniquely benefits you. There are many options available for weapons and gear for this build, making it versatile and viable from the start of the game. Once you max out attack speed with one of Avowed's great hammers or swords, your foes don't stand a chance.
