Although it may seem tedious, collecting all available quests in Avowed before exploring each new region is a good habit. Running off and exploring a new region in Avowed can be tempting. This is especially true for the game’s first area, where players will likely be eager to explore and test the game’s combat systems more. However, taking the time to talk to everyone in town before venturing out into the wilds will save a lot of time in the long run and can even save some lives.
Although each region has quests scattered all over Avowed's map, most of them will be available from the hub city. In Dawnshore, this is Paradis; in Emerald Stair, it’s Fior Mes Ivèrno, and so on. These cities have bounty boards and various NPCs looking to give out quests. Players should take the time to accept every quest available in the city and advance them to the point that requires exploration before heading out into the region. This will help avoid gameplay frustrations and negative story consequences of exploring too much beforehand.
Collecting All Available Quests Stops Having To Backtrack in Avowed
Having All Quests Marked Allows Players To Plan An Optimal Route And Not Backtrack
From a practical standpoint, collecting all the quests in one location before exploring further makes the most sense, so players don’t have to backtrack. A lot of quests end by reporting back to the quest giver. This means that if players do them one at a time, they will get a quest from the region’s hub city, venture out into Avowed's Living Lands, and then return to the hub to turn the quest in and start a new one. This will likely involve multiple loading screens from fast traveling between locations.

Should You Accept Or Reject Sapadal’s Power In Avowed?
You’ll need to make choices that have consequences throughout Avowed, so when you’re asked to accept a piece of Sapadal’s power, should you do it?
Having all the quests accepted from the beginning allows players to venture out in a circuit around a given area and then return to the city once they have finished all the quests. This cuts down on the constant back and forth and having to load different sections of the map constantly. While backtracking can’t be fully avoided, the "Mapping the Living Lands" quest requires players to jump back to Dawnshore from future regions and can still cut down on wasted time.
You Will Want To Approach Some Quest Areas Differently Once You Learn Their Purpose
Players May Stumble Into An Area They Were Meant To Sneak Into
Another reason to accept all available quests from the jump is to prevent stumbling into a quest area without the full context of what is going on. This can lead to players unintentionally locking themselves out of certain options for finishing a quest because they’ve accidentally done too much in the area. An example is the Emerald Stair quest, “The Animancy Method.”

Avowed: Painter’s Regret Treasure Map Location & Rewards
The Painter's Regret treasure is in an area that's easy to find but also dangerously close to strong enemies that will make you squirm in Avowed.
During “The Animancy Method,” players will be tasked by Monto Pastor to go find an Adragan Heart, which a Delemgan Queen is guarding. Monto Pastor tells the Envoy that the queen should be willing to give up her heart but warns the Envoy that they will need to avoid killing too many Delemgan guards to be able to bargain with her. This tips the player off to the fact that they may need to stealth past some enemies or find an alternative route into the Delemgan Queen’s quarters to avoid combat.
If players haven’t advanced “The Animancy Method” far enough before leaving Fior mes Ivèrno, they may just stumble on the Delemgan Glade without knowing they are supposed to be peaceful.
This means they might cut their way through every Delemgan in sight, which will lock them out of a peaceful resolution with the Delemgan Queen later in the story. However, this is nothing compared to some of the consequences of missing some quests entirely.
Missing Certain Side Quests Can Have A Big Effect On Avowed's Main Story
Avowed Side Quests Like Steel Resolve Can Prevent Tragedies In The Main Questline
Avowed’s side quests can sometimes majorly impact the game’s main story. A good example is the quest Steel Resolve in the Emerald Stair. During the quest, players will stumble onto a plan set out by antagonist Inquisitor Lödwyn and her Steel Garrote to burn down the city of Fior mes Ivèrno. By confronting the Steel Garrote before the plan is carried out, players can reduce the harm done and stop the city from being completely destroyed.
Even if players decide not to finish a given quest in Avowed, either due to role-play reasons or because they aren’t interested, it’s at least worth knowing what’s out there. This won’t just save time but also make players aware of the full range of options for approaching different situations. It may also be the only way the Envoy gets to make some critical decisions that significantly affect the Living Lands.
