Starmetal is a powerful crafting material used to create and upgrade two unique weapons in Avowed. Starmetal is also tied to the quest “Forged of Star-Stuff,” which will trigger the first time you pick up a piece of Starmetal. You can bring the Starmetal you find to Forgemaster Dela in Solace Keep to get a unique arquebus (Moonstrike) or sword (Meteor Blade). Both can be upgraded once. Although you have to choose at first, finding all four Starmetal pieces will let you craft everything available, so you’re not missing out on anything if you start with one or the other.
Similar to finding Avowed’s Ancient memories, while there is a quest associated with the Starmetal fragments, you can’t just follow a quest marker to all of them. This means that you’ll have to explore to find them on your own. Luckily, all four pieces are pretty close to fast travel beacons, and several are also close to locations you’ll have to visit during the main story of Avowed. This means that even if you missed them the first time, it’s easy to quickly hop back to where they are later on.

Where To Find The Starmetal In Dawnshore
Dawnshore’s Starmetal Is Directly Across The Gate To Emerald Stair
The Dawnshore Starmetal is located right next to the gate that leads from Dawnshore to Emerald Stair. If you’re already in Dawnshore, you can fast travel to the Emerald Stair Gatehouse Beacon to start. Coming from any of Avowed's other regions to Dawnshore will also land you right here. If you haven’t found the Gatehouse yet, it is directly east of the Militia Barracks entrance to Paradis on the southeast side of the city.

Avowed: How To Use The Infinite Gold Glitch
Here is how to make use of an infinite money glitch in Avowed so you can source unlimited funds in your journey across the Living Lands.
Directly across from the Emerald Stair Gatehouse, you will see a small stone archway. Walk toward it, and you will find a small altar surrounded by Xaurips. Once you finish off the Xaurips, you will find a Starmetal piece sitting on the altar. It is a large purple chunk with an orange glow, so it is hard to miss. If this is your first fragment, it will also trigger the “Forged of Star-Stuff” quest. Don’t bother looking for someone to forge it if you haven’t advanced to Galawain’s Tusks yet, because that’s where the only viable blacksmith is.
Where To Find Starmetal In Emerald Stair
Emerald Stair’s Starmetal Is Just South Of The Rolling Crags Party Camp
The Emerald Stair Starmetal is located just south of the Rolling Crags Party Camp. If you haven’t unlocked this fast travel location yet, you can head straight north from Avowed's Fior mes Ivèrno. Once you hit the Abandoned Farms Beacon, start heading directly east, and you’ll run into the campsite. Once at the campsite, you’ll want to head south and jump down a small ridge. Turn back toward the campsite once you jump down and you’ll see a circular cave entrance. If you’re looking for the ridge at camp, it’s directly to the left of the building at the south end.
Enter the cave and you’ll be met with some monsters, including an ogre with a boss health bar. Once you’ve defeated them, you’ll find the Starmetal sitting at the back side of the cave, near an opening that leads to a small pool of water and a waterfall. You can technically jump down on this side too from camp, but it leaves you less room to maneuver when fighting the enemies than entering from the other side does.
Where To Find Starmetal In Shatterscarp
Shatterscarp’s Starmetal Is In The Abandoned Mine Near Thridborn
The Starmetal in Shatterscarp is on a small ledge overlooking the Thirdborn Party Camp. Unfortunately, you can’t just climb up the ledge, but knowing where it is will help you find your way to it. Follow the rocky ridge to the left from camp, heading west, and then north once it turns. As long as you follow the ridge, you will eventually find a small rock cave that you can enter through.

Avowed: How To Make The Companion Exclamation Mark Go Away
Early and often in Avowed, you'll notice an exclamation mark in the corner of the screen, with no way to click on it. So what do you do with it?
Inside, you will find yourself in an abandoned mine with some damaged scaffolding. Climb up as much of the intact scaffolding as you can, until you find a ladder. Once on the ladder, you will be able to jump from the scaffolding to a rocky ridge on the north side of the abandoned mine. Follow along the perimeter of the ridge until it turns back south and starts heading back toward the party camp.
Jump the gap between the two big rock ridges and then continue straight along the path. You’ll find the Starmetal just on the cliff’s edge. You should be able to safely jump down from here if you don’t want to travel back around the way you came, or fast travel and deal with a loading screen.
Where To Find Starmetal In Galawain's Tusks
Galawain’s Tusks’ Starmetal Can Be Tracked With The Bounty On Destul
The last Starmetal fragment you can find is near the Ash Forest Beacon in Galawain’s Tusks. If you haven’t found the beacon yet, the easiest way to find it is to take the bounty on Destul. This will actually give you a quest marker that leads directly to the Starmetal. Once you pick up the Starmetal, be ready for a fight, because doing so will spawn Destul. This happens whether you pick up the bounty or not, so you might as well grab it to make finding the Starmetal easier and get an extra reward.
The Starmetal is easy to spot, it’s at the bottom of a large crater, surrounded by a circle of cracked rock where it impacted. This crater is right to the left of the A in “Ash Forest” on the map if you decide to look for it without having the quest. Once you’ve collected it, you’ll have everything you need to forge all the unique Starmetal weapons.

Do Enemies & Items Respawn In Avowed?
There is a good reason enemies seem to stay away when beaten in Avowed, and that is something that was decided when making the game itself.
Collecting all the Starmetal is a good way to get your hands on some of Avowed's best weapons. Dela doesn’t charge you to forge your Starmetal into these unique items, and Heavenstrike is one of the best arquebuses in the game. While all unique arquebuses cap at the same damage, Heavenstrike’s additional Stun gives it a huge advantage, especially for Rangers running Staggering Shot. Ondra’s Offense is pretty nice too, especially when fighting a powerful boss. Giving the enemy reduced damage can be helpful, especially for melee fighters. Both weapons are more than enough reason to hunt down Avowed's Starmetal.
