Avowed: All Unique Armor Locations & Their Effects

You will find unique armor, boots, and gloves in Avowed scattered across the Living Lands' four main regions, which include Dawnshore, Emerald Stair, Shatterscarp, and Galawain's Tusks. Unique armor comes in three standard varieties: light, medium, and heavy. Your build, playstyle, abilities, and more will determine which type of armor suits you best. As a fan of pure Ranger builds, I almost always opt for a light armor set, and there are a ton to choose from as you progress through the Envoy's journey. Gloves and boots in Avowed also carry unique effects and can complement your choice of armor in various ways.

Unique armor is enchanted with two abilities, while gloves and boots (e.g., clothing) each have an item bonus and an ability. Unique armor and clothing are acquired all across the Living Lands during treasure map side quests, for defeating powerful foes, or as rewards for main quests, among other things. Armor can be upgraded in ways similar to weapons in Avowed, but it cannot be re-enchanted in the same way. Clothing, on the other hand, cannot be upgraded or enchanted.

The first major area in Avowed is Dawnshore, and it includes a handful of unique armor options, including at least one unique armor of each weight type to give you options during your initial exploration of the Living Lands. The Arcanist's Gambeson is a unique light armor found at the Yellowband Camp during the associated bounty, and it increases area of effect (AoE) damage by 10% and provides +20 Maximum Essence. The Blackwing Armor is a unique light armor that can only be acquired if you decide to kill Ygwulf, the assassin who tried to take you out when you first entered Paradis.

Hjilde's Handy Hide Is Awarded For Completing The Practical Pockets Treasure

One of the best early unique armor sets for a Ranger build in Avowed can be found in Emerald Stair, the second major location in Avowed. The Vailian gear is made for lightweight builds and was my armor set of choice for a large portion of the area and even into Shatterscarp. This set includes the Vailian Boots, Vailian Breastplate, and Vailian Gauntlets. Each piece gives unique Dexterity-based bonuses, such as the gloves' increased parry efficiency and damage with swords and daggers. For higher elemental resistance, which you'll definitely need as you advance through Emerald Stair, complete the Practical Pockets treasure for Hjilde's Handy Hide.

Necropants Provides Excellent Poison Resistance

Once you enter Shatterscarp, there will be many new armor pieces to track down, including the Necropants, one of the highest poison-resistant items in Avowed. These pants also summon a "Spectral Slave" that comes to your side during battle and fights enemies automatically. For tankier builds, the Thirdborn Brigandine Jack significantly increases carrying capacity by +25 and also regenerates health while you're wet. Alternatively, the Skald's Brigandine armor is equally great for a tank build, increasing Stamina by 20% and regenerating health while companions are downed - you can pick this up at the Pargrun Cache in Shatterscarp, among some other awesome gear.

Galawain's Tusks

The final area in Avowed is Galawain's Tusks, which includes some of the highest-quality armor you'll find in the game. Two armor pieces can be purchased directly from Forgemaster Dela at Abydon's Forge once you make it to Solace Keep: Faith and Conviction and Gauntlets of Devotion. The Helwalker's Vestments armor is a personal favorite and can be found at the Shrine in Galawain.

While it decreases damage resistance substantially, the increased critical hit damage makes it ideal for a stealth build. The lava-forged plate is found at the Mt. Forja Summit and is a little tricky to locate, but it offers very high fire accumulation resistance as well as dealing fire damage buildup when hit by a melee attack.
