Nickelodeon shows are a shared experience for many families. The characters have shaped childhoods and their worlds feel like a home away from home. Many of the shows, such as SpongeBob SquarePants and The Fairly OddParents are so popular that they have gotten their own movies, video games, and tons of merchandise.

However, few of the games gets pleasant reviews. The gaming industry is often a cursed place for T.V. and movie adaptations to go and vice versa. Like in all things though, there are outliers. There are some Nickelodeon video games that were surprisingly good.

SpongeBob SquarePants Battle For Bikini Bottom (2003) And Its Remake (2020)

This SpongeBob SquarePants game came out on many platforms in 2003 including the PS2, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows. After a while, the game actually gained a cult following. Its plot is about fighting off robots built by Plankton. Most of the voice actors from the show were actually available to voice the characters in the game as well.

The game quite recently got a remake called SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows.

Nicktoons Unite! (2005)

For general fans of Nickelodeon who want a game that does not just focus on one show, there are games that actually crossover the characters together. One such game is Nicktoons Unite for the PS2, Nintendo DS, Gamecube, and Game Boy Advance.

In the game, the player can control Danny from Danny Phantom, Timmy from The Fairly OddParents, Jimmy from Jimmy Neutron, and SpongeBob from SpongeBob SquarePants. The player must control these characters and stop the various villains from each series in their evil plans.

Nicktoons: Battle For Volcano Island (2006)

For the Gamecube, Nintendo DS, PS2, and Game Boy Advance, this game is one of the sequels to Nicktoons Unite. Like the previous title, the player can control different characters. In the sequel, there are some additional playable characters like Cosmo, Wanda, Sam Manson, Patrick, and Sandy Cheeks.

While the game does not last very long, it is certainly better than what critics expected. It actually feels like a game rather than a Nickelodeon ment.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants! (2005)

This game is a SpongeBob SquarePants version of Mario Party. In fact, is the first SpongeBob SquarePants game to have multiplayer mini-games. It came out in 2005 for the Xbox, PC, PS2, Gamecube, and Game Boy Advance.

The game has different modes such as Story and Tournament. When the game is beaten, there is actually a 30-minute movie that gets unlocked. As for the mini-games, they have 30 different kinds.

The Legend Of Korra (2014)

The show, The Legend of Korra, serves as a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Unlike its predecessor, it did not get too many horrible adaptations. In fact, the video game that came out in 2014 was pretty decent. It was for the PS3, PS3, Xbox 360, Windows, and Xbox One and was a third-person action game.

Do not expect a treasure, as the combat and story are pretty simple. However, it is a fun way to relive some of the scenes from the actual cartoon.

The Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown (2004)

This game is actually a sequel to The Fairly OddParents: Breakin' da Rules. However, this sequel was far more well-received by fans than its predecessor. This was also before the T.V show got progressively worse in quality. It was released for the Gamecube, PS2, Microsoft Windows, and Game Boy Advance.

The gameplay is a bit addictive, and the story is well suited for the source material. Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda go on a journey after finding out there is a supernatural reason for the lack of T.V. reception.

Rocket Power: Beach Bandits (2002)

Rocket Power has become nearly unknown by pop culture compared to shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, but it still got a decent video game. The game was released on the Game Boy Advance, Gamecube, and PS2 and is Tony Hawk-esque skating game.

The story of the game is about how all the sand in Ocean Shores as been stolen by a mysterious company and the Rocket Power gang team up and investigate to get their beach sand back.

Nicktoons: Freeze Frame Frenzy (2004)
